Boromir's Sword (with pic)
Hello everyone. I have been searching (and waiting) for a while to see if Boromir's Sword will be made just as many of the other characters Swords have. I e-mailed Larry Ray the webmaster at Blades by Brown Cutlery and this is what he said:

quote:
The production of Boromir's sword is at the moment at question. But I agree with you, with such a sacrifice Boromir made to
preserve the fellowship I cannot see how they can overlook this persons sword. How about joining us at the board I will tell you
about and help us get United Cutlery's
attention. Maybe if enough of us
scream WE WANT BOROMIRS SWORD! they will consider it for production, heck you can start a message of your own at
LOTRO (I'll tell you more about this in a sec) and I will certainly jump in there with other members and see what we can do. I
might add that Kit Rae, United's head Art Director visits us and often comments on subjects like this. So it is certain that your request will not go unnoticed!

So if you are interested please go over to 'The Lord of The Rings Online' - look for the topic 'Middle Earth Weapons' http://forums.lotronline.com/ and you will see a post titled 'I will buy Boromir's Sword' reply that we want Boromir's Sword made!
Click on the link to see the pic http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jcrrjones/files/TLotR/Boromir%27s%20sword%2C%20shield%2C%20horn2.JPG
Thanks!
[ August 21, 2002: Message edited by: Boromir's Lady ]

I mean, the guy did die trying to protect Merry and Pippin and that sword was still with him when he took his little boat ride down Anduin! I'll have to check that site out later.

I totally agree with you guy's I mean why don't they just make the whole set including swor horn shield and close. Also, I'm dying to get my hands on that little dagger he used to kill a orc by trowing it into his neck.
That would be cool.

I was a little nervous. Boromir's Lady starting a thread about Boromir's sword? I didn't know if this thread would be appropriate for all ages.
Before you purchase a blade from United Cutlery, I would look for other alternatives. I’ve recently found out that they are made from rolled and pressed stainless steel. Rolled and pressed means that what you’re buying probably only costs about forty to fifty dollars to make (if that), and it is not hardened or tempered. Stainless means that it is way, WAY, too heavy. If you want a nice sword that’s worth the money you will spend, send a picture and description to this guy: Rob , and if he can't do it, he will find some one who can. He's the most honest sword smith I've found, and his prices are not only negotiable, but fair. All of his swords are as authentic as possible, at least in method of construction (of course, he uses mid to high carbon steels that take well to a forge). He will make to order, if possible, and can add a few personal touches, such as a subtle pattern weld. It won’t be cheap, and it might be even slightly more expensive than the United Cutlery ones, but I would rather spend ten or twenty more dollars for something that is worth the money, than a slightly lower price for a low quality product that is massed produced for about 15% of the selling cost.

I'm still too young, and my money tree looks like the White Tree of Gondor USED to look like...dead, empty, and without blossoms!

Thank you for the info for this smith, Bill! I have begun looking for good swords.
Another thing to note is that LotR swords are not for actuall use; their only use is to hang on a wall or to become a decoration because they are made from stainless steel. You can find this info at:Historicalweapons.com
See ya,
~M

I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately, and it seems that these guys will take custom orders. It will cost you, though. Its not unheard of for some of their artisans to craft swords ranging in price from $1000 to $2000. Depending though on what you want, one of their in-house forgers could make you something for around maybe $500, from what I hear. I’m thinking about purchasing one of their Albion Mark swords, but I haven’t had the opportunity to handle any of their wares. Bearing that in mind, they do have this going for them, they are the only American crafters endorsed by ARMA.
