Sam's speech
Anyone know where I could find the lines from Sam's "there's still good in the world, and it's worth fighting for" speech. That was one of my favorite parts in the movie, and I would love to relive it by knowing everything he said.

Here it goes, a little somethin like this:
*********
SAM
It’s me. It’s your Sam. Don’t you know your Sam?
FRODO comes to his senses
FRODO
I can’t do this, Sam.
SAM
I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened.
ARAGORN and EOWYN embrace as Rohan is victorious at Helm's Deep
SAM
But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.
The sun shines on Isengard, as MERRY, PIPPIN, and the Ents celebrate victory
SAM
Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.
FRODO
What are we holding on to, Sam?
SAM
That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
***************
*one single tear......*
I This site to be a GREAT resource for scripts, pictures and killer reviews. Happy Hunting!

I have to say, I am not a huge fan of Sam's but that line made me love him.

I love that. Especially the "it'll shine out the clearer!
It fits in so perfectly with the images with Treebeard and hobbits.

I love all of Sam's lines! My three favorites are "Don't you know your Sam?" his big speech, and when he and Frodo are talking about being put into song. Thanks for the info! Now I know where to find scripts!

Oh, I was looking for that scene for a long time. Thanks for posting it. My favorite line in it:

quote:
FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam?
SAM: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.

Ah, tear!! I think I'm going to cry! That was such a good part.
[ January 05, 2003: Message edited by: Eruwen ]

That speech was one of the most touching scenes in the movie. I really loved Sam's speech and I nearly cried too and I don't usually cry. Even my dad liked the speech.
