Dear Fashion-Wights:I need some Middle Earth fashion advice. What should an animated skeleton wear to the LOTR-FOTR movie opening? Sincerely, a Confused and Dead Fashion Victim, Lostageriel

Finally, sound (and constructive) advice, though I would have suggested you go dressed in the full livery of the Guard of the Citadel of Minas Tirith. Another suggestion is to go hobbit-on-the-downs style (figure that one out if you can).

Hmmm. You don't think the livery of the Guard of the Citadel is too formal? Perhaps the high helm would not be good etiquette in a movie theatre. The hobbit-on-the-Downs style sounds far more comfortable and informal but it would probably get me frostbite (and arrested). Perhaps a compromise - jeans and a sweater with an Elven cloak with a leaf shaped clasp? (Make that a down-filled cloak.) Should I wear a ring? Or would that be in poor taste?

A Fashion-Wight answers: Hobbit trends are totally in this December! So get a funny looking vest, chop the bottom of yer jeans a good 6 inches, and don't forget to curl yer hair! Also it's all about accesorizing!! If you wanna achieve da perfect look, bring a pipe, and most importantly: shave yer cat, n get yer glue: cuz I wanna see hair on those feet! Erm... or maybe a normal sweater n pants will do..And I have a confession: I'm not REALLY a fashion-wight, *blush* i didn't even know that fashion-wights existed. please forgive me.As fer me, with all the intense excitement n stuff, i'll be surprised if i remember t'put my pants on! personally I will be wearing the latest in itchy woolen breeches, a nice rough colourless tunic and of course a shapeless felt bag that I will obstinately declare to be a hat.... this reminds me:a question: what do hobbit girlies wear? we know that hobbit dudes wear waistcoats etc, (and the lovely breeches!) forgive my boldness, but I was curious.

Lol! I love the idea of fancy dress LotR nights - my cousin once went to a costume Sound of Music showing - sounded dreadful, but I'm quite taken with the idea of going to see LotR in costume.By the way, for the person who asked, I always pictured hobbit girls in old fashioned (medieval?) peasant type clothes, very rustic and a bit grubby (like the males I suppose). Lots of petticoats and suchlike for the girls, and a nice apron with big pockets (for mushrooms.)

Now all you have to do is steal a big black horse and you can come as a Black Rider. Alternatively you could take up genetic experiments and crossbreed a lizard and a vulture.
