cockney orcs. i am offended and disgusted
is there anyone else here from the eastend who is upset at being typecast as evil, stupid, hobbit eaters?
i do not, and do not know anyone, who eats scottish or west country people. cross my heart! OK, enough being offended. has anyone noticed that the orc that chases merry and pippin is Phil Mitchell? same breathy voice and everything! i kept expecting him to say "Alright bruv?" and i can imagine phil saying "Lets make a maggot hole in your belly Ian Beale!"

I don't think the accent was ment to offend anyone. I mean they need some kind of accent. What should they have used?

For those of you who have seen Snatch with Brad Pitt I think it would have been great if the Orcs had a pikey accent!

That would be good, though would you really want the association of Boris and Natasha with LOTR?
"Ve haf to get moose un squirrel!" "Ack! Nein!" I'm talking about the old cartoons from back in the day, not the dreadful live-action movie. (Commence rampant discussion on why live-action R and B was a good idea.... waiting.... waiting.... thought not. ) -'Vana

You know, they could've had a Norwegian accent. Have you ever heard Norwegians who can't really speak English trying to speak English? It would definetly sound like they were up to no good..!

Please, say no more about the orcs being American! I am American! Although orcs with a Southern drawl would be very funny . Oh wait, I just insulted myself. Not that I have a Southern drawl or anything (I hope), but I am from the South.

YIDDISH ORCS!!!! ROTFL!! (that was the first time I've ever typed that phrase, btw )
I think "Oy" is the greatest word alive... you can't say it without smiling. Brilliant! Though the orcs that say it would cease to be frightening.... wait. The Orcs that had the accents in the first place weren't really frightening anyway. Off topic, but I don't care: was Gangs of NY a good movie? -'Vana

Oy is the greatest word there is, Gangs of NY is an auesome movie, canadian or southern orcs would uproariously funny( since I'm from the south, the orcs would probibly end up sounding like me and my friends, Gaah, scary thought) and I bow to Daughter of Vana for her use of the word ROTFL.
Ok, I'm done. Please continue this wonderful discustion.

I like the idea of Orcs with German accents; not to be offensive to anyone here (hey, I've got German blood about three generations back, along with a lot of Slav) but it's not as if the English-speaking world is unused to the idea of hearing its villains speak with a German accent.
Yiddish Orcs would be something else. Imagine the insults when they really got going! I'd pay good money to see Ugluk and Grishnakh laying into each other like that... U: I'm Ugluk. I'm the mensch here. S: Oy, yes, and you and your schlemiels will be bringing those little momzers to the White Hand. U: Hok'n chaynik! I never heard such mishegoss. Southern Orcs would be interesting, but (speaking as a northerner) they'd talk way too slowly. Merry and Pippin could cut their bonds and slip away while Grishnakh and Ugluk were still fencing verbally. Alas, the only suggestion I can add is kind of lame. Oxonian Orcs, maybe? "Really, Grishnakh, so the grousing begins August 12, you say?" "Why yes it does, but hobbiting begins TODAY!"
