Almost every major race in Middle Earth enjoys laying back on a quite afternoon to have a good smoke. EXEPT the elves.
1) Why wouldn't they smoke
2) What if they did smoke?
3) Would they use pipes, cigarets, or cigars?

They don't smoke because they must stay beautiful and everyone knows that smoking causes premature aging.

If they did smoke, they would use those stick things, the ones that hold a cigarette and are about eight inches long.

Quite simply my friend, the smell of somke lingers in your clothes... not good for an elf to smell of tobacco.

I think Haldir secretly smokes with Celeborn. He seems like the sluttish, rule-breaking sort. And yeh, those long cigarette holders. So classy! Perfect for an elf.

(Ok... have images in my head of Haldir wearing an off-the-shoulder dress and one of those 20's feather hats... Think of Velma in Chicago, if you've seen it.)

*Shudders* I just did imagine it and I regret that (and I also admit, burst out laughing).

I think Galadriel secretly smokes as well. After she's had a real hard day of secretly reading others minds and bent over a mirror, (and when Celeborn is being a pain in the a**e) of course she would have stress and tension! So to unwind she goes to her favourite spot in the woods and lights up, accidently bumping into Haldir along the way.

I have this strange image of Elrond smoking a cigar, in secret. One of the unknown reasons Arwen left him and married Aragorn is that she couldn't stand the stench.

Another hidden "fact":
The beauty of the elves didn't "fade", the forrests burned down because of the cigarettes being left on the ground.
