Posts: 3</TD><TD></TD></TR></TABLE> Re: Hobbits poll I really like the Tooks - they are so full of adventure, and they face adversity bravely and with level heads. But the one who really kept it all together was Samwise Gamgee. If it were not for him, Frodo would have lost it well before Mt. Doom. His will was strong, and even for an uneducated hobbit, he had one heck of a lot more sense than some of the others. He was rooted firmly in the Shire (no pun intended), but his loyalty was so strong he went on that dangerous journey to Mordor with his master. If loyalty, sense, tradition mean as much as bravery and adventure, then the Gamgees get my vote. (But I still think Tooks are OK too) Juriella Took </p> |

Hobbit Poll
Any of the families coming from Stoor stock. They seem a little more adventurous and wilder than the other hobbit families.

I would be a Baggins. Couldn't resist having the same last name as Bilbo and Frodo. Hopefully, I would be descended from a Baggins/Took or Baggins/Brandybuck alliance which would make for that interesting pull of the personality in two different directions!

The Gamgee's are my ideal family. but based on the nature of my personality, I'd go for the Tooks. Their 'wild side' is totally me.

Er...I would have to say that I could go with either of the Took, Baggins, Gamgee or Brandybuck-family...
I have bits of everyone in me I think: I like gardening, I am adventurous etc etc...

I would be a Gamgee! Although, I would not really want the Gaffer to be my father, perhaps I could be a daughter of Samwise... then I would always get to hear the tale of Frodo of the nine fingers and all of Bilbo's stories as well. Plus, Sam seems like a nice guy (OK, that was cheesy!)

I'm probably more like a Baggins than any of the others, though I am a gardener like Sam.

Definitely a Baggins.
And definitely from the line of Fallohides, based on the following documented Fallohide traits: 1) Lovers of trees and woodlands 2) More friendly with Elves than other Hobbits were 3) More skill in language and song than in handicrafts, and of old they preferred hunting to tilling 4) Somewhat bolder and more adventurous, they were often found as leaders or chieftains among clans of Harfoots or Stoors (Above traits listed in Tolkien's "Concerning Hobbits" in the Prologue of LOTR.) ~~ Gandalf the Grey |

I would be a daughter of Lobelia Sackville-Baggins! I can relate to her!
If not that, then my second choice would be Baggins. They were definitely closer to the Elves in wisdom.

I consider myself very similar to Pippin, but much of this has to do with seeming out of place and seeing things slightly differently than other people. I am not particularly adventurous, or adventurous at all, although I do like to see things happening, so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be a Took.
Most of my names have water in them, so I'd probably be a Brandybuck. I guess this has certain advantages--I could live near the river (maybe even know how to swim!) and the Old Forest AND I'd be close enough to the Tooks to spend time with them, probably something I'd very much enjoy. Besides, I could tweak my name into Belinda Brandybuck, which sounds great, doesn't it? --Belin Ibaimendi

Surely the daughter of the daughter of the River Daughter and a Bombadil to boot would be a Brandybuck.
