Sauron was affected by the ring, or at least he was "consumed with lust for it", even though he made it himself. Sam was affected by the ring very little (although the 'delusions' show that he was). This was probably because he was a guy with no ambitions, meaning he had no need for the ring. So ask away, Mithadan. -Voronwë "Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien."</p>

Feanor asked Galadriel for a strand of her hair but Galadriel declined, probably adding to Feanor's hatred of that side of the family. But, as we all know, Gimli asked for and received three strands of Galadriel's hair. --Mithadan-- "The Silmarils with living light were kindled clear, and waxing bright shone like stars that in the North above the reek of earth leap forth." </p>

I´d like to now some opinions about this topic: Feanor first thought of the Silmarils when he saw the hair of Galadriel (which had the color of the mixed light of Laurelin and Telperion) and thought of putting this light inside a crystal (made of silima), the same Gimli said he was going to do with those strands, so: do we have a forth Silmaril? Is it related with the prophecy of Mandos about the return of Morgoth and the end of the world? </p> |
