Dwarves during the war......
What did the dwarves do during the War of the Ring? You would think they might help or something, but all they do is send a small group to Rivendell to participate in the counsel.Did they feel that they could just stay in the mountains and nothing would bother them?

the dwarves were too greedy to even notice the war of the ring. after orcs took over moria, the only dwarves left lived in the lonely mountain or the blue mountains. Sauron did actually send a siege to attack the lonely mountain, but the dwarves (and Lake-town men) were successful.
After that, I suppose the dwarves went back to their caves and counted gold. as for the lake-town men. I havent a clue

When did Sauron send this seige? I remember one of the dwarves in FOTR saying something about a Black Rider coming to them and asking them to join Sauron or else. Was the seige the "or else"?

The seige was during the battle of the pellenor fields, sauron didn't want the dwarves going to the adi of gondor, so he sent the easterlings up there, but of course they failed, if only Gil-Galad was still alive...(read my sig)::

In the Appendix its pretty clear that the attack against Gondor was only the bigger of the four that Sauron launched at the same time. He used his forces at Dol Guldur against Lorien and even tried to invade Rohan through the Wold. Thranduil of Mirkwood suffered another strong attack. And the easterlings fought for three days against Men and Dwarves in the battle of Dale before making them retreat inside the Lonely Mountain.
