Question Was it written?

Okay I have a question, in the Fellowship of the Ring, the movie, in the prologue the line "history became legend, and legend became myth" is said. What I need to know is if it was written at any point within the Lord of the Rings (the book). I'd like to know for an essay I'm writing, although I have read the books it was too long ago for me to remember and there isn't much hope of me finding the quote within the book(s). I would so appreciate any help that anyone can provide me with. Thank you so much! I hope I'm not being a complete pain.

Actually, that phrase was not written in the book. If you watch the Appendices of the movie's Special Extended Edition, they explain that one of the script writers ( I think it was Fran Walsh) wrote the line.

I believe part of that is Treebeard's lines. " The World is changing" part.

Yes, here it is;
Quote:
It is sad that we should meet only thus at the ending. For the world is changing: I feel it in the water, I feel it in the earth, I smell it in the air. I do not think we shall meet again.
Return of the King, Pg 290
