Aman: "Blessed, free from evil", the name of the land in the Wrst, beyond the Great Sea, in which the Valar dwelt after they had left the Isle of Almaren. Often referred to as The Blessed Realm.

Let's start with the LoTR map. On the far left, just west of the Shire is a mountain range called Ered Luin (Blue Mountains). It is split by the Gulf of Lune. To the west of the mountains are Forlindon and Harlindon. The Ered Luin is the same mountain range as appears on the far right (east) of the map of Beleriand found in the Silmarillion. Lindon is the last remnant of Beleriand (primarily Ossiriand) which exists during the Third Age almost 7000 years later. The Sil. tells how the lands changed.
Aman was a large land mass west of Beleriand and Middle Earth. To get there you must cross the ocean or the Helcaraxe (the Grinding Ice) of the far north.

Here is advice (which I have not yet taken): go and buy the book that is like an atlas of Tolkien's Arda. I don't know exactly what it is called, but I have seen it in the book store many times, but did not feel like forking out about 40 dollars for it (so I'm waiting for it for Christmas, 15th b'day, etc.).
It might help you!

'The Atlas of Middle Earth' is a wonderful reference book for reading all the books. Every map-loving hobbit should have one!!
