Marriages
I've always wondered,
Marriages have always been religious, and now adays, political. Are middle earth marriages, especially amoung hobbits, a religious thing, involving Iluvatar and the Valar, or is it much simpler, I'm so confused!!!

We had a similar thread before, but I cannot remember what was said. I am under the impression that it is a simple exchange of vows (and a year-long party after, knowing the hobbits), and as long as they were made in front of witnesses, there was no involvement of gods or Valar or whatever.
