Hello Oandanel,and welcome to Barrow-Downs!
The difference with Silvan and Sindarin? Physically, I don't think they had any difference. The silvan elves eventually merged with the sindarin elves. I think, though I'm not quite sure as of the moment, that the sindarin were "nobles" of sorts... but they were not noldor. Both did not go beyond the sea. They were more rustic. Their language eventually became sindarin... some say with an accent(?). They were a branch from Teleri, I think. The Silvan were perhaps the "Green elves", the Sindarin were "Grey elves" (said because they took to wearing grey). Still anyone can correct me on this. I do know that Thranduil (elvenking of Mirkwood, Legolas' father)is Sindarin, but his people were mostly silvan. And the elves of Lothlorien had a mixture of sindar and silvan. I'm sure some of the more knowledgable will be dropping in soon... |

if you've read the trilogy, let me recommend 'the silmarillion' by JRRT to you. it's like a back history to all that happened in the trilogy, and will answer many of your questions!
