A Man of Bree, a minor agent of Saruman in the north during the War of the Ring. Very suspicious character, and he gave me chills down my spine.

So far (five 12ths through Silm. ~ Shock! Horror!)
1.Fëanor 2.Ungoliant 3.Film Faramir 4.Shagrat (or was it Gorbag? - you know the one I mean - the horrible one (great description to help identify a certain particular orc, I know)) 5.The 276th orc from the left, 3rd row outside the Black Gate (after Aragorn and Company come and have a "friendly chat" and then the Eagles come-you know the story)...I feel he wasn't developed well enough.

It's been a while since I actually read the books, so pardon me if this list is fuzzy.
1. Denethor: though I pity the man, I hate him. A lot. 2. Saruman 3. Any of the orcs or Uruk-Hai 4. Grima Wormtongue 5. Arwen: for some reason... I just didn't like her I would go so far as to say the movie portrayal of Faramir is my all-time hate-list topper, but I actually love the character Faramir and try my hardest to no longer associate the movie with him.

Ok, Eomer of the Rohirrim. Why don't you tell us your 5 worst characters. The choices are people's opinion and we are all entitled to an opinion I believe? Who would you choose?

No real order:
-(Movie)Faramir~only in TTT, he may get better in RotK. -Arwen~in the books, she doesn't do anything that would make me like her, and she's in the movies a little too much. -(Movie)Haldir~why'd he die??? -Bill Ferny~'nuff said... -(Movie)Eomer~for some reason, I just couldn't stand him in TTT. He was sorta shoved down our throats with little back story. Hopefully he'll be better in RotK like Faramir.

In no order:
Denethor : I cannot STAND pathetic characters! Faramir: I'm a Boromir fan, and frankly Faramir made Boromir look like the more incapable son. Sam : He's bearable at the end of TTT and beginning of FotR, but when he's with Frodo he plain annoys me! Bergil : I dunno why. Just don't like the boy. The Uruk that shot Bromir in FotR (Movie) : Damn that coward!! Why couldn't he just duel it out fair and square?!? Grrrr [ February 15, 2003: Message edited by: Maros An Doramor ] |

Are people picking characters they dislike (as in, wouldn't want to spend time with them) or characters they think are badly written? I can hardly think of any characters that I wouldn't want in the book, the baddies and dislikeable ones are essential, and add to the tension. But I do find Celeborn very dull. He never seems to do much, just stands around in the background muttering the odd line here and there.

1. Gollum- His insane gibbering in the movie made me dislike him even more.
2. Feanor- Just the way I envisioned him; It creeped me out. 3. Saruman- Anyone who looks into a palantir is disturbing. 4. Lobelia Baggins- what a *****. 5.Tom Bombadil- His excessive cheeriness is about enough to make me gag.

Oooo, I can have fun . Here goes:
Denethor- Favoring Boromir, and basically telling Faramir to DIE!!!! Aragorn- Going around telling who he is and saving everyone (not that I mind him saving Faramir, but he treats your average person like a stupid child) Saeros- that racist elf, if it wasn't for him Turin wouldn't have left Doriath Anarion & Erendis- they're just screwed up!

Hm, in no particular order
1. Elladan and Elrohir (they're don't have any personality and they run together) 2. Ar-Pharazon (he's just a nasty old man!) 3. Lobelia Sackville-Baggins (the scene I get most angry about in all of LOTR is when she shows up at Bag End early and demands the keys) 4. Ghan-Buri-Ghan (annoying) 5. Haldir (he's really quite awful in the book, smug, and his brothers Rumil and Orophin are worse) But I do want to comment that I think the movie version just butchered Faramir's character... gr. -Sophia

You don't even see Rumil and Orophin more than once, don't judge them. I happen to quite like the three bros....What do you people have against Faramir in the movie? He was way off from the book, I'll admit that, but the acting by David Wenham was superb

*laughs* Good greif... I didn't realize I was going to be killed...
I didn't criticize the acting, friend, just the way the character was written. I agree that he was very well played, I just would have liked it vastly better if David Wenham played Faramir the way Tolkien made him, not the way Jackson made him.

Oh and I forgot about actually answering the question. So here goes:
Oh by the way, I am extremely partial towards Elves, so I have been (literally) banging my head against the wall every time you people mentioned one of them. No, my parents are not home. ;-)

Okay, some of you are going to get mad at some of my choices, but here it goes...
Here is my list (In no particular order) 1.Faramir-in book or movie, I didn't like him 2.Shelob-didn't like her, too scary 3.Balrog of Moria, and any other Balrog in the books 4.Morgoth-Very mean evil thing, did not like him, and of course he never really gets defeated 5.Gollum (Ok, I know that there is a lot of people who love Gollum out there, but I don't, and remember everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just did not like him, I knew he was evil the entire time, and I know that the ring would have never been distroyed without him, but I still did not like him. He was just simply annoying to me. Though I would never want him to be removed from the book)
