There are ofcourse also the smaller writings of JRRT, like Smith of Wootton Major, Farmer Giles of Ham, Leaf by Niggle.

Earendilyon is correct, but to expand on the shorthand, the next step after LoTR would be the Silmarillion. Some find it somewhat difficult in comparison to LoTR but stick with it. One or two reads should get you hooked (and you can always ask questions here). Then you can proceed to Unfinished Tales, which expands some of the stories contained in the Silmarillion, tells the tale of the Downfall of Numenor, and offers essays about other subjects such as the wizards and the palantiri. If you are still hooked after that you can proceed to the 12 volume History of Middle Earth series. This contains drafts and alternate versions of LoTR and the Sil. plus other historical, philosophical and linguistical materials. It is definitely not for everyone. But if you are hooked, you're hooked. --Mithadan-- "The Silmarils with living light were kindled clear, and waxing bright shone like stars that in the North above the reek of earth leap forth."
