WWLXXII: Werewolf: Now There's the Truth of It! (Admin Thread)
Twas the night before Werewolf and down on the Downs
A game was awaiting, a winner to crown Those chosen as werewolves would dance over graves While those with a gift think of dreams, picks, and saves The ordos would sleep without panic or fright For they’d know that no villain would take them this Night And me on my laptop, my Shasta beside Were plotting narrations for those who would die When on the admin thread came posts from those wanting To eat fellow Downers, or go werewolf hunting To my clock I did look to see what was the time For I had to clear up the game rules and guidelines The deadline is set: 3 a.m. GMT And those votes past the hour will all cease to be And then I did see that three gifteds would roam A special role too, with a gift of their own The werewolves themselves would be four in a pack Who would send me PMs to choose their attack For gifteds and lupines alike I did see Them sending their picks at an hour before 3 Their Night kills, protections, their Simon Says choices And players to whom they would give their sweet voices To the game thread they’ll look for narrations each night In order to see who of them has survived This game, they will see, will be not like the rest For survival is based upon who is liked best And though this is true of many a game This contest, in fact, will be based upon fame I suddenly saw all the villagers voting The less votes received, a feeling foreboding Each person shall vote for the ones they trust most Give power to Simon, another make toast Four votes they receive, not to give more than one To each of those players who hasn’t yet gone The votes one receives will be tallied and totaled And those with the least become legends of old No talk shall be had here of doubling sacking (And those that don’t vote for two Days I’ll send packing) In ties the deaths will be random you see So to tie two contestants a mistake it would be The top of each chain at the end of the Day Shall be Simon Says, and shall have a big say In what happens Day next, who lives or who dies And never forget the judges can lie So be careful in choosing your Simon each Day For his or her words could cause you to stray But pick one you must, and in case of a tie The moddess shall roll a coin or a die Now do not forget this special role For it is not known to the one who it holds The One-Hit Wonder, them you should not fear Their power is great, and their logic is clear I saw all of this then I rose from my bed And decided ‘twas time to play Werewolf instead The first 16 players who show interest Shall take part in Werewolf: the Popularity Contest Rules and regs to be posted shortly. Please don't post until there's actually proper stuff to see. I'll be interested to see what you lot make of it though. Back in a couple minutes (as soon as I stop getting distracted by Wilwa).

Roles:
Four wolves. PM during Nights only. Must get their kill in an hour before deadline (barring excessive extenuating circumstances, of course) and win when there are as many of them as there are ordinary folks. Seer. Gets a dream each Night (which needs to be sent in at least an hour before deadline) and is told the role of each person they choose. In the event of the secret role, the person will show up as an ordinary innocent. Ranger. Tries to predict the wolves’ target. Can’t protect the same person twice in a row and can only protect themselves twice the entire game (which cannot in their case be consecutive). Hunter. When killed, takes their target down with them. However, taking a page from Legate's book, they send me two players’ names instead of just one. If the first person on their list is a wolf, the wolf dies, whereas if the second person on the list is a wolf they die. If neither person on the hunter’s list is a wolf, however, I roll a die to see which target dies. Ordos. Lynch fodder. A lover pairing? (This is up for discussion.) Special role(s). You’ll just have to find out, won’t you? A note on roles and narrations: Narrations will not, unless stated otherwise, give hints as to neither players nor roles. The exception is the original post in this (the admin) thread, which will give you hints as to the secret role(s) I’ve planned for this game. Voting: Everyone will receive four votes to be used each Day. Not four bonus votes, four votes. You may not use more than one vote on a person and you may not vote for yourself. You do not have to use all of your votes, but if you do not vote two Days in a row using at least four votes (aka Day 1 if you forget to vote you must use all your votes Day 2, etc.) you will be modfired. The person with the least votes at the end of the Day dies. In the event of a tie between three or less players I will roll a die. In the event of a tie between more than three players you people suck at deciding and no one dies. (Assume this tie rule constitutes ¼ of the village, so if there are eight people left in the village and three of them are tied, there’s no lynch, four for 12, etc. This ratio also applies to any other game constructs such as the number of votes a person has per Day, etc. Please see note below.) The same is true, but in reverse, for Simon Says, which is explained in detail below. Basically the less people there are in the game the less votes a person will have to use, as would be expected. If there is a change in the number of available votes it will be posted both in the Night’s narration and in the admin thread so that all are aware. In regards to modfire, if the vote count decreases and this causes someone to not meet the four-vote minimum they will of course be spared, provided they use all their votes on the Day they would otherwise receive modfire. The person who receives the most votes during the Day will be much like the captains from Nog's recent game (without the Nighttime chatty powers). The Day they are Simon Says they can either reduce a person’s ‘score’ or add to it by two points. (So for instance if Mnemo is the Simon Says of the Day and detracts from Shasta, he will start the Day with -2 points.) The Simon of the Day can change their choice once during their Day as Simon. Also, the same Simon cannot rule more than two Days in a row. So I know this isn't complete, but I'll add to it as I think of things and you can totally ask questions if you don't understand anything. Feel free to sign up! Players: Wilwa Glirdan Lottie Nienna Nerwen Pitch Izzy Mira Rune Fea Nog Brinn Steve Gwath Form Dun

Btw, I really mean the 16 player max. However, if a lot of people are interested we could go 20 players and everyone will go up to five votes a Day. But yeah.
Aaaanyway....

Sally, I think you mean Nogrod's "Rangers of the North" game, not Steve's "Night Guard" game.

Speaking of which, what happens if Simon is Night-killed? Or can Simon be Night-killed?

An interesting concept indeed! Votes of "confidence" instead of votes for lynching... This really looks like worth a try!
I should be able to play as my "near-death-rl-schedual" should be easing a lot come next week... well it should ease already tomorrow. So count me in! Although I'm not promising the hectic "fill-the-thread" pace - this must be the N'th time I've been talking like this...

Hmm...seems intriguing, though I'm wondering if I should be doing any werewolfing this semester as my schedule can get quite hectic. But if this is indeed a popularity contest, I'm sure to be dead by Day 1 anyway...or at least sometime in the first half of the game. And a semester without WWing is an awfully long time...
Put me down with a question mark. I'd hate to lose the opportunity to play with my slow decision making.

Mira's logic on this one:
*Vicious IMs from Glirdan demanding I play *Oooh Fea! *Oh poop, Rune's playing. Can't miss an opportunity to take him down a notch. sally, m'dear, you can take the ?!?! away from my name. I'm in, but here's advance warning that I'm not going to be all that active if I start my internship. PS. Still waiting on those cookies you promised me.

It's basically just to ensure that people don't just use one vote every Day and be lazy. It's up for discussion, of course, but I wanted some sort of guideline to make sure that people didn't slack off. (That and the more votes are used the more competitive it is, so it enhances the game as well.)

Plus, if there are more votes, there will be fewer ties, which are only funny when you're not the person tying...

Just have to say that I just went into a major panic, because there is no "Admin" in this thread title so I thought the game thread was up and then there was like 36 replies and I was like "Oh no, it's started and I haven't even gotten my role yet, she forgot about meeeee", and then I realised it was the admin thread.
I'm very excited for this to begin, Sally, you should bully more people into joining, I know you can do it.
