Two Hobbit movies

This seems to pretty strongly indicate two movies (incorporating
elements of the appendix in LOTR). I originally thought this would
be a way to go (and it has the plus to potentially make lots more
$$$, or pounds or euros, for PJ and friends.

World Excl: Jackson/Del Toro Talk Hobbit
The duo reveal the make-up of both films

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’ve known for a while that Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro’s eagerly-awaited adaptation of the Lord Of The Rings prequel, The Hobbit, would comprise two movies, due in December 2011 and 2012. But the make-up of those two movies has been up for debate… until now.

We spoke exclusively to both Del Toro and Jackson for our birthday issue, and they told us the latest, which is…

“We’ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur,” says Del Toro.

“We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie,” adds Jackson. “The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the [LOTR] trilogy.”

So there you go. The second film will not, as had previously been suggested, a film that will bridge the 60-year gap between The Hobbit and the start of Fellowship Of The Ring.

So where do you think the first movie should end?
Perhaps as the White Council is about to attack
Dul Guldur and Thorin & Co. to enter Mirkwood?

It seems to me that the natural break (granted the validity of this approach, which I don't) lies in the long time-out in the Elvenking's halls, or its ending by barrel.

Or perhaps as the Giant Spiders capture the dwarves
and Bilbo is being tied up by one of the spiders.
(cliffhanger)

But they mentionned something of a second movie as a gap-filler between "the Hobbit " and LOTR! ANOTHER PROMISE NOT KEPT!?

A bit of an update on TH movies in

stuff.co.nz
Quote:
...Jackson, who is also an executive producer on the project, said The Hobbit would now take up all of both films. "We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie," he hold British film magazine Empire.

"The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the [Lord of the Rings] trilogy."

Jackson's confirmation backs comments made late last year by The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro that it was likely The Hobbit would be spread over two films rather than one.

Del Toro told Empire the two-part Hobbit movie would expand on two areas that were only alluded to in the book - wizard Gandalf's visits to arch-villain Sauron's stronghold in Mirkwood forest and the wizard's involvement in the White Council.
Speculation: could this mean PJ is actually thinking of a seperate "bridge" movie between TH and LOTR?

They're obviously trying to maximise the number of films they can do, milking the franchise for all its worth. I'm sure they'll try and do more films after these 2(3).

I tremble only to the thought of the White C ouncil on screen...Nobody really knows who their members exactly were. So,God save if we see Legolas as a member ,Just for commercial reasons...

They won't need to shoehorn Legolas into the white council scene it would be more natural for him to meet up with Bilbo in his father's kingdom. Maybe Legolas can be the drunken guard.

Actually, I seem to recall that someone suggested this back before there was any plans on New Line's part to even create a "Hobbit" movie. Still, what has Orlando Bloom done since the last PotC movie? He's probably ready to revive his career in some way or other. Why not get drunk on wine or at least appear in his father's court when the dwarves are captured? He's probably begging for work by now.

Well, although I never liked Bloom-unlike the rest of my class-he is associated with LOTR to the only-movie fans' names. So,yes,a DRUNK legolas would be ideal. His fans shall see him again and I will proove once and foreall that ,in terms of dignity,Imladris' products are always the top-and a few monkeyish tricks on a mumak can't make you tha greatest hero.
