Real Live Hobbit for Sale.....

I couldn't resist sharing this. Thought you might find it intriguing. I was skimming entries on e-bay this morning and found a real live Hobbit for sale for only $50: Hobbit in bottle.

I have seen some crazy collectibles in my day, but this one has to take the cake. Just thought other folk might want to see this listing. I wonder how many times this guy has put a bottle like this up for bid.....

As my collectibles budget is a bit thin at the moment, I won't be purchasing this, but if anyone does bid on this thing, please let me know what is in that bottle (aside from air that is.) Since this poor guy is stuck inside, I am wondering if he can grant wishes.

Just curious, but has anyone else encountered any other extremely weird LotR collectibles that made them do a double take?

I like the way it says it is a Hobbit Inhibited Bottle! It clearly likes to be left alone and not shown to strangers.

Actually, it sounds like the bottle is inhabited by a boggart! I've not seen ours for a while now. I must make sure the Faerie Door (yes, really) is clear for hi to come in and out...

Now talking of weird collectables, when I was about 17 I remember a guy at school had seen a catalogue in which Tolkien's writing desk was for sale. It had sold for around £300 or so, which is absolutely nothing if you think that this was the very desk which Tolkien used to write all his works on! Wow! And that indeed was my reaction at the time.

You have a "Faerie Door"? How intriguing. What are those?

You place it by the wall or on a tree to let the little people come in and out! Mine is by the fireplace in the bedroom because I know boggarts like to live in such nooks.

Here's a link to a site that sells them! Mine's quite plain though, and it came in a choice of sizes, so I'm not quite sure these are exactly the same doors. I found mine in one of Whitby's many weird and wonderful little shops.

In fact... Here are some more Faerie doors!

And... this one is exactly the same kind as mine!

Lal, that is so awesome. I might get one! Though I'm afraid the Little People don't live in America. *dissapointed sigh* I'm moving to Ireland first chance I get.

How very nice! I like some of the other pieces too, especially the Green Man.
