Tom bombadill
Tom Bombadill wasn't afected by the magic of the one ring and he could see you if you pute it on.
why do you think he wasn't afected? he also told the hobits that he didn't use magic. do you think that the afect his songs had magic unto itself? |

I kind of got the impression that Tom was the spirit of the Old Forest. He says he has been there since it began, he never goes far from it, and he obviously knows how to control or work with it which is shown by the tree that captures Pippin and his wife the stream lady (sorry I forget her name).
I'm not sure about that cause I've only read it once and not in depth but if he is the spirit of the forest I would say the rings don't affect him because he is part of a magic far higher than any that elves or anyone else created. |

there's a "Who/What was Tom Bombadil" thread further down in Books...perhaps that may be a help

Elrond talks about that in the council meeting. Tom Bombadil and his wife Goldberry have been there so long that he has become master of his forest. Since nothing else has any bearing on his life, it has no influence over him, neither death, nor evil rings.

i always thought Goldberry was Tom's daughter...not his wife. but there you go. i think he was one of the first beings on middle earth, and was the only one to survive save his 'daughter' (ahem). and he is of a race so old and wise and thats why he is so much more powerful than the others. Its like he evolved to be that way...over... time. does this make sense? probably not...

Well, I have always thought that Tom is Aule and that Goldberry is Yavanna, the ring cant affect Tom because he is a Valar and he doesn't want it, that kind of explains it all
