If you could live in Middle Earth, what would you do,or most want to get up to ?
If you were able to (temporarily, or even permanently) reside in Middle Earth, what would be the wittiest, coolest (serious or humorous) thing/s that you’d most enjoy getting up to, or doing there in your view.
If this has been discussed here before, please give a link. |

I would be a Vala in Valinor. Or a very powerful elf ruling my own realm like Galadriel in Middle Earth

Erm... wouldn’t this be a 'forbidden topic' for the books sectin?
Ah well, I don’t care; the Barrow write or one of his friends can deal with it. I'd probably seek adventure and go visiting people... Like the life of Gandalf the grey, going hither and thither unlooked for and meddling in all affairs whether they belong to me or not! know what am shayin?

Yeah, I'm sure the "Barrow write" will have a thing or two to say about this thread.
I would be a hobbit, because of a strange enfatuation with small people and rural villages that I have had ever since I saw Willow. |

Judging by Saruman's success, I'd set up an Ork-fetish shop catering for lonely, ugly men. Sure to be a money-maker in the Isengard area.

I'd be an elf who lived in numerous forests. I'd spend most of my time in lothlorien, and some time visiting my buddy Tom Bombadil. ( I think by now it's apparent I'm obsessed with him ) And after the 3rd age ended I'd live in Eryn Lasgalen and name every tree there.

I'd be one of the Half-Elven. That way, I get to have my own realm,be a funky famous wise-dude, and live for thousands of years until the Fading of the Elves,at which point I decide to choose a mortal life and am freed from the Circles of the World. Honestly, they literally have the best of both worlds!

I would join an army. Preferably the army of one of the elf-lords of First Age. Go and get some glory and stuff. There is probably 99.9999% chance I'll die, but whatever

I suppose I'd just want to explore. I'd want to settle in one place, but only as a base camp. I'd love become a Ranger and travel to the most remote places, or just be a messenger and travel between the cities.

I'd meet the ents. If that weren't possible *surpresses sobs* I would go to Rohan to maybe join their army. I'd probably have to learn to ride first, though.

Where to
I would like to wake up everyday in the White Tower of Ecthelion. It's supposed to be a wonderful place as Boromir described waking up there everyday.
Thorongil, I wouldn't mind fighting for the elf-lord, Ecthelion. Ecthelion slayed Gothmog, earning my respect, but Ecthelion also died in the process. |

I'd be one of the Rohirrim; I totally belong in their culture, farming, riding horses, and making up alliterative poems. And, when duty calls, riding to war, to gain glory in death or in victory.

I would be a Lady of Rohan
Kind of like Eowyn, but less fiesty, and less eager to go to war (because I am the worst person ever to go into battle, I am a complete and utter whimp). But then I still would be interested in the whole riding around on horses and swordplay thing. I have always had a fondness for Rohan because the whole atmosphere of it really brings out my scandinavian side

As a Hobbit, I would have to look for a job in The Shire.
Is there a vacancy in Quality Control for the Southfarthing Pipeweed Growers Association? My ideal job would be as Ale Inspector for the whole Shire, regularly visiting every pub and brewery to make sure everything was up to scratch. |

haha, I would like that job too, Selmo! Of course, I'd have to wait till I was of age...
Seriously, I would be director of parks and public gardens of the Shire (If there wasn't that position, I'd make it up). Or a server at the Green Dragon. My fantasy job or activity would be traveling ME with Legolas and Gimli, or princess of Gondor, or shieldmaiden of Rohan. I allways did like horses... But most likely of all of the above, I would be the very first librarian of Hobbiton. Most likely the last, but oh well....

Oh, I'd be right there to pick it up after you. I used to be a librarian in a small country village, so working in the Hobbiton library would suit me down to the ground.
Which gets me thinking... working in the library of Minas Tirith. Can you imagine how many ancient scrolls there would be? It would be a dream for me to work there. I could be a scribe, a learned advisor, a man of lore, a tutor to the sons of the Steward, the royal librarian... or all of them at once would be nice!

I foresee this thread being moved to Mirth in the near future...actually, I'm quite surprised it hasn't happened yet!
I would want to live in the Shire, just to see it and meet the people and watch their culture. That would be lovely. All that beautiful green space.

I'd LOVE to shoot orcs and basically just kill things. Since I'd most definately be an elf, I'd love to just frolic in the woods and sing and spend time with the animals, that's like my dream.

Ok, I can't decide between these two fantasies:
In my first one, I'd be an Elf maiden in the House of Elrond. I just love the way it was presented in the films...so exquisitely beautiful and one with nature. In the second, I'd be Eowyn, desperate to go to war and slay some filthy orcs It would really depend on my mood at the time! |

I would be (of course) an Elf, one of the Noldorin Exiles, so I could go berserker on Morgoth's arse. And because I just love saying stuff in Elvish, 'cause I'm a loser like that. (I swear, one day I will own a large peice of land with a deep, dark forest on it, and I will call it Taur-nu-Fuin, because that is the greatest name for a forest EVER.) And, like Gil-galad, I would pay homage to Monty Python. My esquire would follow me everywhere banging two empty halves of a coconut together.

This is a toughie!! I'm really torn. I'd love to be a lady of Rohan (swordfighting, horses, and hot men... yeah, I could get used to that )
Hobbits are great too, however. Living in the Shire would be a dream come true. They have beautiful scenery, friendly people... and some pretty cute hobbits (Gee, I wonder where my mind is at the moment ) Being an elf would be awesome too but I'd prefer one of the latter.

Hmmm.
Me? I'd love to be some mighty, all-powerful force of darkness that rained DOOM upon the DOOMED heads of her enemies.
Or if they'd just let me live in Minas Morgul. Yeah, that'd be fine. |

I'd be a Hobbit and befriend Merry and Pippin... and then pull pranks on non-Hobbit Fellowship members (Namely the humans, the elf, and the wizard)

I would love to be a part of the fellowship. Kill a few orcs, eat some lembas, meet the hobbits. That would be great...even if I died. I would also like to visit Mirkwood. Maybe the elves there will teach me more about the Tengwar.

I'd be an Elf chasing hotties! Actually, I'd love to create a "Middle Earth" somewhere and have a retreat with a bunch of people have it open to whoever wants to join. I have tentative plans made if I can ever come up with the funds. You know, total costumes, all in character 24-hours a day for a few days. Would be a blast. I'm Elf-obsessed.

Although being an Elf would be an interesting creature to be, I believe I would settle in with the Hobbits in the Shire. I'd be probably around Tuckborough, I believe. I always did love the countryside and the old peasant-like setting. Of course, I chose Tuckborough because, like a Took, I also like to venture out into the woods and do a little travelling, which is considered odd in other parts of the Shire.

i dunno. im kinda confused. i would be a Hobbit because of their peaceful and quiet existence or an Elf because of their ethereal beauty. but then again, they have suffered great sorrow during their life spans and Hobbits are simple fun loving creatures.
there is somethig attractive about living in sorrow and grief of the past. if i chose to be an Elf, i would be Galadriel. dont ask why. i dont even know. May be i would be Rosie Cotton. . i dunno. well see. |

What my life would be...
Quote:
I am torn between being an Elf handmaiden or a Human handmaiden. I mean there is the mortal impulse to try to live forever, and the immortal lust for final peace rather than being tied to the fate of the world. Either way, I would like to be a handmaiden - to Arwen, Melian, Eowyn, Emeldir, or one of those - that lives a quiet life, marries a good man, and has children. Though excitement sounds, well, exciting, if I were off vanquishing the world in the form of some powerful man, I would probably desire a quiet place to sleep. As a handmaiden, I would not have to deal with the court politics as much, and though I would be a servant, being a handmaiden to one of those women would not be horrible. I mean, if I were with Emeldir, I would even get to fight (is anyone else reminded of Ávila in Emeldir's tale?).
