The Character Formerly Known As...
The Lord of the Rings took around thirteen years to write. The book, naturally, didn't stay the same in those thirteen years--there were changes, upheaveals, many, many revisions. Among these changes were the names of the characters. In this thread, I'll give the original name, and you tell me what name this character ended up with.
We'll start with Bladorthin.

I didn't think this was ever resolved, apart from a guess that he was a King of Dorwinion in the east. But plz correct me if I am wrong.

Eh, is this controversial? I've only seen one source with this, so if it is a source of controversy, I'll certainly take it down. But no, the answer that I'm looking for isn't a king.

My sources say he was a king, probably an elf, who ordered spears from the Dwarves of Erebor but died before they were delivered. The name is found in the Hobbit.

LePetitChoux is right. Bladorthin was Tolkien's original name for Gandalf. (Or at least, so it said in the booklet that came with the Map of the Hobbit.)
I don't know if I was very clear with the instructions in my first post: this is a quiz thread for the ORIGINAL names of characters. Like, names that Tolkien gave them in the first drafts and later on changed. LePetitChoux, carry on. ~*~Orual~*~

I can't find anything. As Beren87 was the only one apart fro me who answered, I gallantly give up my turn.

Highdae: One of the Valar? (as in "High Deity"?)...but it doesn't sound godly enough...
Ioreth? It keeps reminding me of a member called Sindae... As for Faramond Took, Pippin. Or Bullroarer. I'm awfully Sorry, Legalos! I completely didn't notice you! So Beren87 wasn't the only one who answered...Sorry sorry sorry! How can I make it up to you?
