Sorry to hear that....
... and I hope we can cheer you up... ... I hope there's a better RL outlet for your frustrations... ... but if not, read The Hobbit and smile awhile.

If the Hobbit doesn't work for some reason, a great way to cheer yourself up would be (I apologize in advance, BW, this is not Tolkien related at all...at least I hope not):
Go to your local large convenience store when it's slow over there, like in the morning. Grab a basket and fill it with: rope, whipped cream, strawberries, a pack of Durex, and Polaroid film. Unless the cashier is catatonic, there will definiteley be a reaction. And if you're still miserable after that, you can go out into the world and do good deeds. Slay a Balrog or two, or help an old lady across the street. That'll make ya feel better, babe, I guarantee it.

I'm sorry. I've been there too. For me, my faith (I'm Christian) played the biggest part in getting me through those times. Also music, good books, and friends. Try to get lots of all those, I'd be happy to help if you need it. I hope things improve for you.

Elf-Chick,
Life's not supposed to suck, but sometimes it just does, adn we wonder why. I've been in a similar place as what you describe. One thing that helped me a lot was learning that *other* people firmly believed that God loved me and had plans for me. And I think God has hopes and plans for you. I also think He loves you, and would like to show you how He loves you and why. I've been praying for you. Talking with a pastor or priest can be a big help. And so can reading a good book. Barrow-Wight's idea is good, try The Hobbit. It's perky. Keep us posted how you are doing, okay? --Helen [ June 27, 2002: Message edited by: mark12_30 ]

Elfchick, I have felt the same way before, so I know what you're going through. But you really should think about the things in your life that are good, like your friends, who if they are true friends will always be there for you.
And please do not say you want to kill yourself. That really scares me. I had a friend who committed suicide only a few months ago and she is missed dearly. Whatever is troubling you, it can't be worth ending your life.

Don't say that Elfchick
It makes me sad. I am glad that we can provide you with some comfort here. Just hang in there... I know life can be tough sometimes (can't tell you how many times I have tried to wish myself to another world - Middle Earth, perhaps), but there are people out there who really care for you. Look to them, they will really help you out |

Elfchick,
You are a wonderful person who makes all our lives much better for knowing you. I value your input into the many discussions that we have and I find that your great personality shines through into your post. If you feel that you are worthless or unimportant just remember what the lord said The stone which the builders Rejected as worthless Turned out to be the most Important of all. This was done by the lord; What a wonderful sight it is! The Lord loves you, and so do we.

There is a poem, that describes your state:
Often, I have felt sad, and all around me was bad. My friends had deserted me, her I loved most, even she. Life had no meaning, that was my greatest feeling. But someone I knew said, that I should forget. Because there is many people yet, to love, no certain amount is set. Hold your head high, through this trial, you are loved by us, to that there is no denial. I know it isn't that good, but remember the last lines. The point is that if you were to do what my classmate did, everyone would be affected. Your family, your friends, and even us Barrow Downers who don't even know you in person! Cheer up by listening to music, reading a book, or playing a sport you enjoy. If that does not help, talk to someone you know well and will listen. Trust me, everyone has been there before, including me. You are not alone. People will always be there for you when you need it.

Elfchick, I'm not sure what to say at the moment, but please don't kill yourself. I've been there too, and because I didn't have the guts to kill myself, I cut my arms, not around the wrist, just the arms, and I still have the scars. I some how get something from distructing things when I'm upset.
You know, if you ask Him, Jesus would help you. He loves you so much, a hundred times, a million times more then a mother loves her child. And He wants to help you, all you have to do is ask. ~M [ July 01, 2002: Message edited by: Morquesse ]
