Congratulations indeed! As one who was privileged to experience him on the stage live, though from a distance, as the narrator in a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit concert this past March, I am sure that he deserves the honour for his fantastic, fascinating voice as well as for his great acting. Thanks for passing this information along to us, Andsigil.
I can't help but wonder if the knighting of one of the world's best-known and loved horror actors right before Halloween is only a coincidence...
