Wow...
Been awhile since I'm here. Good to know that I have, yet, not been deleted. I think it's about time I brush up anew on the books. Glad to see that the site is up and looks productive. I wish you all well.

What about Syne, then? (Although in my mothertongue, that would be simply a vocative for "son". ) Or Mosey? (Though that sounds to me as having the same problem as above.) Or just MMS (Hey! But that sounds good, doesn't it?)

Sad thing was, I'd actually thought of that... Though you could make it Mnemi or Mnemie or something like that and it'd still be pronounced the same, at least in English (no initial "mn" cluster like in Ancient Greek. ).
Syne also has appeal, though, because in Scots it means something along the lines of "past time" as in "Auld Lang Syne," which ties in nicely with the whole Memory thing. But to pronounce it in English it'd be equivalent to Sine, and there's something really weird about being named after a trigonometric function*. On the other hand, if it were pronounced Elvish style with the rounded u and extra "e" syllable (as I tend to pronounce all members' names that aren't recognizably English) it sounds rather pretty. Look, I'm sure one will stick to me soon enow. *...I'd better get off this tangent...

Point's taken, especially the last one! Although, I think Latin is better.

I vote for Nemi.
Welcome to the 'downs (or should you be the one welcoming me, since I've only been here a measly 2 1/2 years)? |

Nonetheless, you still have been on the 'Downs more than probably half the people here, Nemi/Synie (you choose!).
Anyway, since I've only been here for barely a year, I suppose you know how these things work better than I do.

From what I've seen, signing up for a WW game while sporting a name of more than 2 syllables generally entitles one to a nickname, which may or may not be related to one's username... Steve.

Just thought I'd better say "hello". Have read LOTR countless times (more than 20) and am now trying it in Dutch (and I'm not Dutch, in case you're wondering). I'm also extremely fond of "Leaf By Niggle" and "Smith of Wootton Major", but I have read all of JRRT's books, of course.
I'm a musician, amongst other things. |

Anyhow, welcome to the Barrow Downs!

Yay Kelly! Er...Nienna. This is going to take some getting used to...
And just in case you missed the memo, Fea, Lari, Brinn, and I are all absolutely ecstatic you finally registered. And to think, you weren't going to tell us. Shame on you.

You know, it's kind of scary that one of my best friends we've been persuading to join has Nienna as her online name, too...
Anyway welcome. So how many of you are in the same place now? Five? Huh, you equal us Finns.

Welcome, Nienna. (Although Fea gets closer and closer to break my 'downer-converting record, which is scary. )

Things seem to have been very quiet around here the past few days. However that is neither here nor there. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the bright young lad they call Bandobras Tunnelly, far traveler and new wonderer in these parts. Though I've felt joined to this place by proxy for quite some time as my bride, the fare Alaklondewen has told many a good tale with some cracking good tale tellers. My wind is long this morning as most everyone's is after a long night spent awake. But there will be rest if no where else but the end of days; though I expect that I'll be seeing you well before then.
