Can anyone tell me who Beruthiel is? And please don't tell me she's Galadriel's sister! [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] I already know that's not true.

Queen Berúthiel was the wife of Tarannon, twelfth king of Gondor, who took the name Falastur 'Lord of the Coasts' She lived in a loveless marriage surrounded by her cats who were universally hated and feared by all around her. Apparently her husband finally seeing sense had Berúthiel put on board a ship along with her cats and had her driven out to sea ....

Unfinished Tales. Part Four, Section II Note #7 has the most detailed information regarding this strange figure.

Sorry...I am a cat lover! Had to respectfully disagree about men who put their wife & her cats out to sea as having sense! [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Berúthiel herself was a couple of Silmarils short of an Iron Crown. She was the first minimalist, apparently lived in monochrome and filled her gardens with tormented sculptures
