Tolkein inspired?
Ever since I've been getting into LOTR, I've been seeing allusions to it everywhere.
Anybody ever play Zelda: Ocarina of Time? The main character, Link, is an elvish looking kid who has a bow, pointy ears, and wears a green tunic. There's a big fiery, smoking mountain you have to climb, and another characters name is Ganondorf, and although he's a bad guy, it sounds alot like Gandalf. And at the end you have to fight this thing that looks alot like a Balrog. And there's a gigantic spider in there too. Anybody else seen other examples of Tolein in the world or am I just crazy? Wow! I'm surprised no one's been sued over that game! Looks to me like a Legolas-lover with too much time on their hands got a bit carried away.

Check out the thread called "Homages to Middle Earth" in the Books section and you will see many many examples that people have come up with that are similar to yours. http://www.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/u...c&f=1&t=000472

A very dull piece of commonality is that Elvish blades glow blue when orcs are near, and Lightsabres do a glowing thing too.
For a more erudite link. I loved Alan Garner as a child. His book 'The Weirdstone of Brisingamen' contains: 2 children - who behave like hobbits. 1 bracelet - very powerful 1 wizard - beardy and amazing Many elves - never seen and fire arrows from trees. 1 bad wizard - who is good wizard's brother. Evil shapeshifter - all seeing baddie (female though) 2 dwarves - swords have names, excellent in caves. The list goes on. Good book for kids though and set next door to David Beckham's house!!!

Thanks TigerLily, I'll head on over there and check it out.
I heard rumors and saw an advertisement online for a LOTR video game but I don't have a clue when it'll be out or with what system. Thanks Auriel, I'm always n the lookout for a good read! I shall most definetly check it out at the library!
