the new lotr RPG
I didn't know quite what forum to put this in, but since your RPG forums are all RPGs...
Has anyone played or had a look at the new LotR roleplaying game book from Decipher? I have read a lot of really good reviews, but I wanted an opinion from someone in real-time, as it were. Anyway, just wondering if anybody could confirm all the good things I've read about it.

I haven't heard about the Dechiper RPG, but has anyone ever played the LOTR Warhammer game, its pretty cool and not overly hard to understand. And the units are nice!

Oh, I saw a Lord of the Rings RPG book in a bookshop the other day. It has a goldish cover. I was going to buy it, but the cover was all messed up, and it was really expensive.

ah, finally a reply...thanks!
It's a shame about the marketing limitations on the new RPG (only covers LotR!) and has lots of glossy film pictures, but it's supposed to be a good game, faithful to Tolkien, and I thought peole here would be qualified to evaluate that! As for the Games Workshop game, haven't played it. It's a bit too film-tie-in for me, and I don't play warhammer. The figures look pretty good, though. Better than the usual warhammer cartoonish ones...

I assume so. Anywhere you can get Games Workshop stuff (Warhammer, etc.) you should be able to find the LotR game. I can't find my "local games shop" (new town), but I know where the Games Workshop shop is... I actually just had a peep at the figures through the window. Quite nice--lots of detail and all, and much more realisting than their usual stuff (which, to be fair, isn't going for realism).
But, nobody's tried the new RPG?
