Good Guys or Bad Guys?
Out of curiosity, do you like the good guys or the bad guys better? now don't think I'm stupid-- let me explain myself.
When you discuss the LOTR, do you find yourself saying, "Grond is such an awesome weapon," "that balrog was soo cool!" "did you catch the part where Melkor..." or do you say, rather, "Wow--Glorfindel was amazing!" "did you see Eerendil?" I ALWAYS thought of the good guys, but I was talking to a friend, and was said, "Oh no! It's that bad guys that make LOTR so cool!" What do you think?

No, actually I think the bad guys are rather dumb most of the time - although I sometimes feel so much pity for them that I almost want them to win! - happens to me with other books, too
But I think I really like Gollum - he's hilarious!

I think of the good guys! Yes, sometimes I do pity the bad guys, for at times it isn't their fault they are bad, But that's there part in the book so I HATE THEM! lol

I think the bad guys are the best. The Ringwraiths, for example. The bad guys usually make people remember the book/film. In the film, they were definetly memorable. Gollum, the Uruk-Hai, Orcs, and even the Eye are all very different enemies, and very impressive.

Bad guys, the ringwraiths and Sauron were awsome !
I was a lil bit dissapointed about the way the orcs looked though. The Elfs also looked good, but in my eyes, a lil bit to 'perfect'. Cheers! |

Well, I like the good guys better. Especially in the movie. That is partly because the bad guys are generally old (saruman) or ugly (orcs). However, if you don't have any bad guys, you don't really have much of a story. It is the bad guys that keep you on the edge of your seat for 3 hours.

In the sense that you need both, I like them both. I prefer the "good guys," however. They have more character to get into.

I prefer the good guys, but without the bad people the good people wouldn't look that good, so I think their all important.

Well, the good guys are developed much better as characters. But _because_ Tolkien left them fairly undefined relatively speaking, I think Morgoth and Sauron and mysterious minions of theirs like Thuringwethil and the Mouth of Sauron and the Nazgul are really compelling due to sheer curiosity.

Well I love the good guys and the bad guys because they're all so compelling.
My friend questioned me about Sauron and I said something like 'Dude! Sauron rocks!' He said that Sauron had no redeeming qualities and I answered that he was very mighty. Not a very good reason but he's still cool.

You don't really see much of Sauron (in the movies). I know that he is the 'big bad guy', but he doesn't have a huge role. He is an important character, but he doesn't take part in much of the action. His Orc's and other evil things do all the stuff for him, and he sits on the side lines and doesn't seem to say much.

I like the good guys better, but what would the book be without the bad guys??? So I like the bag guys too Especually Gollum... He's so cool. But still - Gimli's the coolest character in LotR

Thats one thing about BEING a bad guy....You don't wanna die (Or are allready dead and can't do much because you have no psycal fourm)so you have poeple do the work for you....Kinda like being a lawyer (NO OFFENCE TO ANY1!!!)
AS for Myself? I like the good guys above all! But I do have to agree that with no bad guys, there are no good guys. Without Hook, Peter is a guy in tights flying around with a little farrie following him, and without Golighth, David's some punk throwing pebbles! But I like good guys above all...Typcail of Me

If it weren't for the bad guys, it wouldn't be much of a book, now would it? It's the villains that make the book interesting. Would YOU want to read a book about hobbits running around all day without any real plot to the story? Of course not!
