A bit of an aside here, since the Rohirrim were much like the Scandinavian peoples, would they believe in something like a Valhalla? Maybe that would be their perception of the Timeless Halls, since men of that time were not wholly 'in tune' with the goings on of the afterlife, at least, as it pertains to Valinor. Just blind speculation on my part. Peace

I think that when Sam left that he found Froto who had became inmotal, but Sam did not become inmortal. So that he ould be with Rosie some day. So that way Sam would see Froto one more time before he died.

I think the nearest Tolkien gave to an answer are Aragorn's last words: 'Behold! we are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory. Farewell!'. This was cold comfort to Arwen, however.

To answer the original query on this Topic, Tolkien DID write some more about Sam in the Epilouge to LOTR, but was prompted to remove this last part of the book before publication, so he decided to end on "Well, I'm Back,".
It's included in Sauron Defeated, one of the Histories books that Christopher Tolkien editied. It's good. Take a look if you can. I have got the text on my PC, but I'm unsure whether you can post whole sections of books! |
