Easter Eggs: Discussion & Favorites
First, to get a quick introduction out of the way...
For those of you who might not know it, there are 'secret goodies' (as PJ puts it) hidden in each of the three movies--one in FotR, one in TTT, and two in RotK. You access them all the same way: Get the first disc, go to select a scene, go to the last chapter, & then go down once more. Once you've done this it should show a golden ring by the New Scene label. Select this and you will access the easter egg. For RotK there is one on each disc. There is some possibly offensive content in these easter eggs, so watch at your own risk. Now, the easter eggs are controversial things; some people love them and think they're hilarious, some people think that they are out of line. I can see both sides of the argument. I thought that the secrets were usually pretty funny and wished there were more of them. My favorite was probably FotR's (though it can also be argued that FotR's one of the most offensive) or TTT's. What about you? Favorites? Just now saw them? Did you like or dislike the 'secret goodies'? Last edited by The Only Real Estel; 04-27-2005 at 06:14 PM. |

My favorite, so far, has to be the easter egg in TTT. I didn't know there was an extra easter egg in ROTK, but I thought that the first one became tedious when I watched it for the second time.

Wow!!!! I'd heard 'bout the easter eggs but didn't know where they were hiding!!!! I shall run straight home and watch them... I shall then return and make comment!

us poor brits don't get the hilarious MTV spoof with Sarah Gellar and Jack Black, becuase the whole DVD would have had the same certificate as the easter egg itself, which I believe was 15. (which is fair enough, seeing as how Miss Gellar gets the ring from Jack)
So it was left out of the region 2 version of FOTR EE. |

Ok now I'm confused!!!! So, is it only the American's that get the easter eggs? Please don't tell me that, I just got all excited about the prospect of new LOTR stuff!!!!!!!!!!

I only know about the Easter egg on the FotR disc, Celebuial. Go to Scene Select on Disc 2, go down the numbers and highlight 48, press enter, then as the fan club credits scroll up the screen press down, you'll then see an icon of the Two Towers underneath the numbers, press enter and Peter J appears on your screen congratulating you for finding the hidden 'gift'. The MTV sketch wasn't included on our version as has been said, because it would have put the dvd up to a 15 rating.
I haven't checked out the other two dvds. Can you believe it...I forgot! Edited to add that I've tried my other dvds now. I can't seem to access anything on TT, but on RotKs second disc, if you do the same thing ie. scene select, fan club credits, enter, down: a gold ring appears, press enter and you get the MTV 'interview' with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn pitching a sequel idea to PJ. Enjoy!

I couldn't find any Easter Eggs on either edition of TT, so if any Brits out there know whether there are any, I'd be most grateful for a sneaky tip on how to access these. I found the others OK, but I was disappointed not to see the MTV spoof on FotR - however, in this age of DVD burners and multi region hacks for DVD players all things are possible...I wonder if it has found its way onto the internet anywhere?

Sorry Lalwendë I couldn't find any on TT either!
I rather liked the one on the first disc of ROTK, I can see why it could get tedious after a while though. I just thought that it was so funny beacause Dom's accent was terrible and I'm sure that if I'd spent the same amount of time as Elijah running around in hairy feet with Dom, I would've recognised his voice or at least the way he was talking.

I never managed to get any of the easter eggs to work, and I'm in the US. I wonder if it could be something to do with my DVD player?

"(which is fair enough, seeing as how Miss Gellar gets the ring from Jack) "
While that was certainly a wrenching experience for Jack, TTT easter egg was quite revealing. One didn't realize there were such large creative differences between Gollum and PJ. Let's hope Gollum's agent got him residuals instead of that crappy golden popcorn award. After all, nothing could compensate for the long hours and low pay and miserable experience Gollum had making that f***ing movie.

Errr, in Australia the rating is already M+15. So...yeah. My fav....the MTV one, then the random interview one. Still cracks me up majorly. *sigh* The second one with the interview with Peter Jackson on the second disc of RotK was just inappropriate. Especially the "hobbit on hobbit" part. *shudder* So was the one on FotR which I only just watched recently because I didn't realise there was one on it. Oh well....anyone else completely and utterly HATE the one with Ben Stiller?

All I have to say is that the only one I thought was funny after the first time was TTT one. The others were funny the first time, but then.....

OMG, there's one with Ben Stiller? I've seen the one on FOTR EE with Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar, the one on TTT EE with Gollum and Andy Serkis, and the one on ROTK EE with Dominic Monaghan pretending to be a German movie critic interviewing Elijah Wood. (By the way, I'm in the USofA.)
Must find the Ben Stiller one. Where is that one? On the DVDs?

I can't seem to find any on my DVD's. Does anyone out there have the ability to put them on the computer and send them to me? If you have any idea whether this is possible please PM me as i would love to see them.

Beanamir: I'm pretty sure the Stiller one is where all the rest of them are, except this time it's on the first disc. Either that or it's where all the other ones are on the second disc. o_O

What's wrong with me?
I knew about the secret on the FotR disc, but I never even checked or thought about checking TTT and RotK. *gasps in disbelief* I'm going to go home and watch them tonight. (I loved the FotR MTV Elrond's Council thing- funny, funny, funny )
