Elenny dragged me in here...
As y'all can see, my name is Falkor. Not Fally. Not Korry. Not Falky. FAL-KOR. Calling me anything other than Falkor upsets the voices in our head. Actually, I'm just kidding... A little bit about me: I look to Gollum for inspiration. I refuse to acknowledge the Khyber that killed Chewbacca. I am admittedly more obsessed with Star Wars than anything else. I am admittedly equally obessed with extremely H.O.T. British guys. I like Tea, and crumpets. My favorite non-fandom movie is Rocket Man. I am not easily frightened, except when it comes to the mental images Elenny is always putting in my head. I talk a lot, and I hate pink. *sits in corner, and plots to terrorize Elenny and Splatzy* |

Welcome to the dead Misty and Falkor! You may think it's kind of...grotesque...you know the whole dead thing, but you'll get used to it .

I'm Assasin, and although all my friends say it's a guyish sounding name, I'm a girl. So, I've already visited other forums, (duh) I've only read the first two books of LOTR. Uh, oh. I'm in trouble now. He he. So, welcome me.

Welcome, Assassin. Oh, I do hope you find the time to read the Return of the King, it's really the best! (Well, in my humble opinion, anyway...)

I read part of it. It's just the first chapter is all about Pippin and Gandalf riding to Gondor, and that kinda gets you off on a bad start.

Hello all!
I'm brand-new here, so I thought I might introduce myself. I'm 22 and live in London, where I'm doing an MA in Classics. Some of my favourite books besides LOTR are Vergil's Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphoses, A Clockwork Orange, The Brothers Karamazov, Harry Potter, and the Bartimaeus Trilogy. So yes, I'm rather bookish, I suppose, but am still rather in touch with the world - I love going to the cinema and watching DVDs, going out to bars/clubs and concerts, and running/going to the gym. Anywho, am excited to be here, seems like a great site. Cheers, Cecily

Welcome, Aelithes! It is a fun sight. I also enjoy Harry Potter. It's not a bad thing to be bookish. It's literate.

Hello All!
Hello there. I just joined last night (read something I had to respond to) I love the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but haven't read much else (it's all on my list though).
I've got to run, I just wanted to make myself known. Many Thanks

Thanks all, for the kind welcome!
elronds_daughter, I am in fact American! But I've been in the UK for some time to do my postgrad work. Cecily's actually my middle name (the most famous example of it is in The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde). You're right, I'm seeing no one else sign their name at the bottom of their post - I wasn't even thinking about it when I was doing it!

Welcome - Cecily isn't terribly common here but I did look after one once who was an adorable child and grew up to join the circus .... (honestly!!!)
And Cecilia ( which is basically the same ) is quite famous for being the patron saint of music btw .... there is a Purcell Ode to her... "Hail, bright Cecilia!" and lots of paintings .... so it is a good name

Mithalwen: Yes, I do know about the Purcell! Thanks! I do like my name well enough, but it doesn't stand up to nicknaming all too well (e.g., 'Sissy' - bleh!).

To that I agree ... I had a great aunt who was Cecilia known as Cis or Cil (sounding like Seal) so yes it is better in it's complete form or Italian...... somehow I don't think Miss Bartoli gets called Cis.....

For any Mods who happen to read my post, a friend of mine joined about a week ago, but said she never got the e-mail to activate her name. She asked if I would ask if anyone could help. Thanks.

Hello all!
Thanks for creating and participating in this Tolkien forum. Finally I've found people who love Professor Tolkien's works as much as I do and who have many thoughts, questions and comments regarding the same. Never having posted anything anywhere before, the Gandalf- Witch King scene in Peter Jackson's ROTK EE DVDs had me so torqued off that I decided to go in search of others who *had* to feel the same way, hoping that it just wasn't me who felt that the scene wasn't right. Well, I guess that I should be thanking PJ, as now that I've gotten all that I have to say about the above out of my belly, I can move on to other topics of discussion. So much to read, so little time... I have already learned much, and enjoy my visits. |
