A new kind of game ...

I saw a game similar to this over at Entmoot and found it entertaining. The asker puts a quote from a Middle-Earth character. Everyone must guess who said it. Who said:
Quote:
Then dig a hole in the ground if that is more after the fashion of your kind. But you must dig swiftly and deep, if you wish to hide from Orcs.

mailto:barrow-wight@kitgraphics.comThe Barrow-Wight http://www.barrowdowns.comThe Barrow-Downs

Re: Ghan Naw.. It's not a problem, really. It does present a challenge, though. As we can see with this example, we all had a good idea where the quote came from but were forced to go digging in the texts to find the speaker. The quote game is an excellent tool for readers to refamiliarize themselves with some of the more obscure parts of the texts. As long as people don't start asking partial quotes or quotes with no context, this game will be fun! I guess it's my turn. But I don't have my books and I don't want to misquote anyone. I'll ask a new one this evening. In the meantime, if anyone has a good quote they want to challenge us with, just start a new Topic. mailto:barrow-wight@kitgraphics.comThe Barrow-Wight http://www.barrowdowns.comThe Barrow-Downs

This is so old, I believe it must be the first ever 'quotes' thread on the forum. Be amazed and awestruck! It is a mix up too - quotes proper, quiz, and 'imagined quotes' all in one.
The answer, meanwhile, might be Calimehtar, son of Narmacil II, the threat being that of Easterlings. But I do not intend to carry on on this thread. I just wanted you to see it

Many thanks to our resident archivist for unearthing this gem. Like any museum piece, it deserves to be preserved in its natural state. And so I will close the thread.
