A Mary-Sue is a fanfiction character that seems...essentially perfect. She has long, raven hair and piercing eyes, no weaknesses and is uber-powerful. She usually comes from a tragic past, her family was killed and she mourns the loss, ect. ect. Usually Legolas or some other hearthrob falls in love with her and they live happily ever after...
Get what I'm talking about? By the way, welcome! Enjoy being dead! <font size=1 color=339966>[ 11:33 PM December 16, 2003: Message edited by: Amarantha_Daisy ]

Mary-Sues don't really have a specific definition. But the are essentially perfect - they can make Canon characters into losers so that they can save them, generally they have magical powers, and can be the offspring of a ridiculous parentage e.g. Galadriel/Gandalf, Elrond/Arwen, Legolas/Galadriel, Smaug/random other you get the idea.
Mary-Sues are either the Best fighters in M-e, regardless of the fact they have never seen a weapon before in their lives, or weak, perfect princesses of randomnonexistantmoonshineforest. they are also fun to kill - so says the PPC Agent *snerk*. There are also different kinds of 'Sue. Victim 'Sue: is usually the type that 'suffers' from an abusing past, evil parents, or other angsty type things. In most fics, this 'Sue nearly dies about a hundred times and is almost always accompanied by - Supporting 'Sue: who looks after her, helping her in everything, is the perfect friend, yadda yadda yadda. Possession 'Sue: is the one that possesses canon characters and makes the act OOC. Generally Legolas, Elrond, Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Boromir, Arwen, Galadriel, Faramir, Eowyn, Eomer, Theoden, Thranduil, Bilbo, etc are hit the worst. Gimli is generally left alone as he is Small, Ugly and not worth noticing (to the 'Sues, of course). These are the basic 'Sues. Should you come across any 'Sue that needs smiting, PM me at once. I will deal with the creature in the most painful possible way <font size=1 color=339966>[ 3:21 PM December 17, 2003: Message edited by: Morgul Queen ]
