What happened to all of the Palantiri?
Palantiri is the plural, right? Well, I know what happened to the Palantir of Orthanc, the Palantir of Minas Anor and the Palantir of Minas Ithil a.k.a. the Palantir of Barad-Dur. What happened to the Palantir of Amon Sul? Those four are the only ones I know of.

there were seven Palantir.
1. was destroyed with osgiliath. 2. was stolen by Sauron when he took Minas Ithil/Minas Morgul. 3. The one of Minas Arnor/Minas Tirith was kinda not working after Denathor.(I wont get into it.) 4. The one at Orthanc was taken back by Aragorn and was used by the kings thereafter. 5. and 6. The one at Amon Sul and the at Anuminius were drowned with the last king of Arnor. 7. This one was at Emyn Beriad, I forgot what happened to it. I know it was at Emyn Beriad but im not shure, Cirdan might have had it when he left for Valinor.

The Emyn Beraid, 'Tower Hills', marked the western boundary of the Shire. On them were 3 Elven towers built by the High-elven Exiles after their return to Middle-earth in the Elder Days. The tallest of the towers had a special palantěr. It looked only over the Sea, and had been set there by Elendil the Tall in the late Second Age, for him to gaze at Eressëa and Eldamar. At the end of the Third Age, it was put on Elrond's ship by Cěrdan and passed over the sea to Eldamar.

The one that Sauron took was most likely destroyed with him or the cracks of Doom.

Why did Círdan place the palantír of Emyn Beraid on the ship that took the Three Rings away? Wasn't that a little bit selfish of the Eldar? Not to mention presumptious or cheeky... it wasn't even theirs! Surely the Heir of Elendil may have wanted to use it. It was one of only three remaining!
Perhaps when Gandalf gives the palantír of Orthanc back, his dialogue should be changed to: "Receive it, lord, in earnest of other things that will be returned. Except for that nice looking palantír up north. I've had my eye on that for years!" So, yeah, I'm pretty bitter about everyone losing the chance to look into the Uttermost West from the Tower Hills. What's with that? That particular stone was said to look towards the Master Stone in Eldamar... so they take it to Eldamar?? To look across to the other side of town? Explanation, anyone?? |

No one aside from elves had been using it anyway.
