Really? That seems like a terribly stupid thing for Peter Jackson to do, and dishonest to the Books. Gandalf never openly wore Narya until "The Grey Havens," and I have a theory that he did not even bring it with him past Imladris (although this may well soon be proven wrong by the wise at the Barrow Downs).

My understanding of the 3 rings it that they, not the wearer were invisible to all but special cases, such as Frodo.<P>This is based on THe Mirror of Galadriel passage were sam sees no ring when Frodo does. <P>So I infer from this conclude that ll three bearers of the Elven Rings were under nornal circumstances wearing and using them, unbeknownst to those around. Anyone know of other references in Letters or HoM-E ?<P>ps Angmar, sounds like another point for the prosecutor to bring up .<p>[ 8:47 PM December 13, 2003: Message edited by: lindil ]

It sounds like something that PJ put in more for the book-reading audience, as they would understand what the Ring was & the normal movie-goers would not see anything significant about it. None the less, it is a rather pointless thing to include...since the Rings were invisible, & were supposed to remain hidden.

All the time when I saw Gandalf's bare hand I thought "yep, Narya is there and we just can't see it". I never saw him wearing the Ring in Moria at all. Can you be more specific? What time, what place? What dialogue is said at the time?

Thats strange. Arent the bearers of the three rings supposed to stay unknown? Or did my imagination just make that up. It has a habit of doing things like that...

Are you guys sure it wasn't the loop cord on his staff that Gandalf had around his finger. He has it around his finger when he is talking to Saurman in the tower right before seeing the Palantire. When he does this it looks like he is wearing a ring so it may be the same in both scenes. I am not saying you guys are wrong but I will have to see it for myself if some one could tell me where to find it.

I would have to know at what specific point in the mines is the Ring allegedly spotted.

in the mirror og galadriel, it reads 'Yes,' she said, divining his thought, 'it is not permitted to speak of it, and Elrond could not do so. But it cannot be hidden from the Ring-bearer, and one who has seen the Eye. Verily it is in the land of Lorien upon the finger of Galadriel that one of the Three remains. This is Nenya, the RIng of Adament, and I am its keeper."<BR>i took this to mean that only another ring bearer, weather it be the one ring or any other, can see the other rings.
