EE showings & Trilogy Tuesday - The Barrow-Downs Discussion Forum

Hmm.... I thought that there would be a thread on this, but I couldn't find it. Sorry, Esty, if I missed it....I went with my kids last Saturday night to see the EE of Fellowship. It was an interesting crowd. The theater was less than half full but the audience definitely gave the impression that they'd read the book and actually knew something about the story. There was just a different feeling than when I'd gone to the showings of the regular film. A number of folk were in costume (including my hobbit daughter), and everyone (and I mean everyone!) stayed through the final listing of the cast and crew till the last frame of the movie. (That didn't happen the other times I saw Fellowship in the theatre.)I was really struck by the extended visuals of the Shire. It looked a lot more lifelike and impressive than watching my little TV box at home. Before, when I'd watched the EE of Fellowship, I'd always thought in terms of additional snippets of plot that PJ managed to salvage. This time, it was the layered richness and variety of the physical setting, especially in the Shire and Lorien. I am slipping out tomorrow afternoon on my own to go see TTT. I have a feeling the theatre will be totally empty except for me. That's alright since I don't mind a private showing! I've even made a point not to watch the EE of TTT before this because I wanted to see it in the theatre first. (I buried the DVD on my top closet shelf so I wouldn't be tempted to indulge ahead of time!)Are there others out there who've already seen or plan to see the extended edition of Fellowship or TTT in the theatre? Was there anything that particularly struck you after seeing these movies on the big screen as opposed to watching a DVD at home?And finally, who is going to sit through all three films at Trilogy Tuesday? Did you have trouble getting tickets? I know they were sometimes hard to come by.....

I really had no trouble getting tickets, I have no idea whether the theatre will be full or completely empty. I'm going all by myself, which in fact is something I kinda like, because it's better to go alone then to force someone to come with you who will be bored after a few hours...Unfortunately, there are no showings of the extended versions in the theatre where I live, otherwise I would have gone without a doubt.
