Power of Nazgul
you know, a funny thought came over me while watching LOTR FOTR when Frodo got stabbed, Strider said that he is becoming a Nazgul, well i thought that why didn't the Nazgul stab lots of peopel so they have a army of Nazguls? If that were true then an Army of Nazguls whould surely be hte best army

Actually, I believe Aragorn said that Frodo was becoming a wraith, not necessarily one of the Nazgul. I never took it that Frodo was going to become anything powerful, just that he was fading out.<P>H.C.

The Nazgul weren't just wraiths, they were Ring-Wraiths. So, just because Frodo's becoming a wraith doesn't mean he'll be a Nazgul. There is a difference. <I>Nazg</I> is ring in the black language, so it isn't just an ordainary wraith. <BR>Hope this clears things up a little, anyways. If that isn't very clear, let me know, and I'll try again. It's late, and I'm tired, and my brain doesn't always operate well under those conditions!<BR>Arwen

Actually, I think it is delineated in the book that he would become a wraith, but weaker and under the control of the Nine. <P>Cheers,<BR>Lyta

Madam Underhill is correct. A distinction was made in the books.

I agree with Lyta_Underhill. When Frodo was stabbed he would eventually pass into the shadow world and become a wraith howver he would be weaker than the nine, and therefore he would be under there control.

Gil-Galad does have a point though, if everyone were wraiths and under the control of the nine then Sauron wouldn't have much problem gaining control of Moddle Earth. Perhaps Everytime they stabbed someone the blade evaporated and they couldn't make that many blades...

Yes there was a rather detailed description of what was happening to Frodo in the books as a result of being pierced by the Morgul-knife. Gandalf spoke these words to Frodo:<P> <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR>"They tried to pierce your heart with a Morgul-knife which remains in the wound. If they had succeeded, you would have become like they are, only weaker and under their command. You would have become a wraith under the dominion of the Dark Lord; and he would have tormented you for trying to Keep his Ring, if any greater torment were possible than being robbed of it and seeing it on his hand."<BR><I>The Fellowship of the Ring: Many Meetings</I><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
