I still feel terribly alone here... doesn't anybody else feel insulted that a parody which does not (to me, at least) seem particularly amusing is getting attention, and that this dude is getting liked by LotR fans because of it? *gets ready for a huge bombardment of you-need-a-life and where-the-hell-is-your-sense-of-humor type comments*
~Menelien

Jeez Galadriel, you need a life. Where is your sense of humor?
Just kidding.
Anyway, I didn't find his review extremely funny. It was maybe worth a smile or a chuckle. But I still don't understand how people get "offended" by these things.
Oh, and long live rabid fans!!
[ May 28, 2003: Message edited by: Dwalin ]

Lol, I don't mean I was offended by the fact that he was poking fun. There are very many parodies that I spend hours reading and laughing over, or some that were just cute. I was only offended by the way he made fun of fans, which seemed, underneath the joking, to be half serious.
~Menelien

Us Tolkien geeks are a big and easy target (like Trekkie geeks). I enjoy all the barbs because I see that it's a big enough phenomenon which makes it worthy of people to spend the energy on to make fun of.
I do find that people who write a lot (professional or not), and who think they are funny, usually come across as really tedious and tiresome, god bless them if they can make money. Compelling reading - NOT. What is interesting is how interested they are in themselves - how exciting! I suppose its a natural evolution - year after year of writing that stuff I suppose you have no choice but to evolve into "Jimmy" from Southpark. Wow, what a great audience......
I do agree with Barry's wondering on whether or not to hit the restroom during the movie though lol A curse on that salted popcorn and those $4 large soft drinks!
