My favourite character is Gollum too. I liked the way PJ dealt with his split personality. Somehow I felt more for Alan Serkin's Gollum than that in the books. However I would like to have seen the scene where Gollum stroked Frodo on the leg lovingly before being discovered by Sam being filmed.

Hm...I'm not sure this time. In FOTR Pippin was my absolute favorite, but here we got to see so little of him...
I liked Legolas much better in this movie than in the first one, though. So maybe him? I was also very pleased with Miranda Otto's performance as Eowyn.

I have to say that I really did enjoy Eowyn. Oh heck, I AM Eowyn. My mum's making me her cream dress with the brown bodice so I can wear it to RotK.
And actually, Gandalf really made the movie for me. I didn't appreciate him at all in the first movie, although I liked him a bit. He finished off the movie properly for me.
Oh wait, except for Wormtongue. Am I the only person who absolutely thought he was the greatest character? He was just so freaky and creepy... come on, Brad Dourif shaved his eyebrows! That's dedication! He's just so... disgusting. I don't know. I like characters that make me feel strongly about them, and well, he's a creep. I hate him. He's my favourite character.
[ December 28, 2002: Message edited by: Lindril Arvilya ]

Mine is Aragorn!!! He is sooooooo awesome, and he is really hot too!!!!! But I loved how he seemed to become much more kingly! Very graceful (even when he is fighting lol) and he has an air of leardership and dignity about him!! Also that he remains faithful to Arwen when Eowyn starts getting interested in him.
I dunno I just love him!!!!!!!

I liked how they portrayed him in TTT better than in FOTR.

Grima, Sam and Smeagol/Gollum were my favorite. It's hard to pic a favorite, but they were the ones that moved me the most.
My favorite part of the film was in Isengard when Grima said something along the lines of "that would take an army of thousands" and then they walk out of Orthanac and there was THE ARMY. Grima looks, and then after Saruman's speech there's a single tear going down Grima's face. It was such an incredible thing and the minor detail just made the whole scene more powerful.

I absolutely loved the Gollum/Smeagol conversation. I also loved Aragon, Legolas, and Gimili. Legolas and Gimili are great at Helm's Deep. I also think that Aragon is becoming more kingly. I've seen the movie 4 times already and will see again tomorrow. Every time I see it I find something else to like about it.

My personal favorite: Treebeard of Fangorn.
Why: Because when he and the other ents of Fangorn attacked Isengard in retribution for what Saruman did to their tree-kin and the surrounding forest, it was actually nice to see that old wizard cower, and begin to doubt that he'd chosen the wrong side.
Second Favorite: Smeagol-Gollum.
Why: Because at times, I could see what he had been, long ago. Almost angelic in a way, when he spoke as Smeagol. But then, there was the darkness within him, always trying to reclaim him, like a cancerous disease. Though at one point, he seemed to be in 'Gollum-Remission'.
