I have heard that Gollum/Smeagol is going to be completly computer generated. I was wondering if anyone could confirm this and also if you think that this is the best way to approach the character ?<P>If true, I can see how this would be better than an actor trying to re-capture the movements, attitude and look of Gollum and have to say that from the glimpse we saw of him in the Fellowship Of the Ring he looked pretty fantastic. Also his voice was (to me) pretty much spot on.

Well since you saw LotR: FotR, you should know that Gollum is computer generated.

I liked Gollum, I don't care if you could tell he was CGI he was still great, can't wait to see more

Think of it this way, I can't think of any living person that can look as lean, gnarled, twisted and gangly as Gollum is supposed to look even with extensive make up. He would have to be done with CGI to pull it off (and from what we saw in FotR I think they can do it).
