Hey~
I haven't even the read the books ( working on it ) yet and I can explain this. Bilbo says in the movie that he misses the mountains he had traveled the world for most of his life and have had some of the craziest of adventures so he is more comfortable out there somewhere exciting!!!! But yeah, I'm going hot tubing!! Andrea is here and says hello. Laters~!

1)he was poisoned my the morgul knife 2)he was poisoned by Shelob 3)last, but certainy not least, being the ring bearer. He knew what the powers of the ring were, and he used them more than any of the 3 previous bearers. He was almost not able to give up the ring. This coupled with the end of magic in Middle Earth made him feel "streched" and, as Gandalf said, he was never able to recover from his wounds. In the end, the ony place where he would have been able to find peace |

There was a really good eassay somewhere, I forget where. There was a link on some thread.... Oh well. It basically said the same things as Orome said. The author also mentioned that he had been through a long journey and a lot of trama. When someone has gone through such an experience, he/she needs a lot of support and needs to talk about it. Frodo didn't, he slowly excluded himself from the shire. It was also partly because he wanted to be with Bilbo, and Bilbo was definatly going.

So was Bilbo going for the same reason as Frodo (his many wounds and pains of being the ringbearer), he needed to heal?
