Dragon?
As i recall, during the FotR, the fellowship had been making their way down the river for a day or two. They decided to rest on the shore and wait until it was safe to begin traveling once again.
I havnt read this book in a little while but as i remember, a small "battle"(or more of a skirmish) broke out between orcs on the far side of the river. Supposedly a giant shadow flew overhead that no one could describe. My question is, is this the dragon that the Ringwraith was riding on in TTT? |

It was actually not a dragon but a 'Fell Beast'. No one is sure what they were exactly, but if they had been dragons, then Tolkien would have stated it. It is more likely to be some lesser reptilic creature.

yep, the new rides the nazgul got after their horses went bye bye (remember, Frodo felt a terror in his heart, just like he did at Weathertop)
Fun Frodo fact; at the above stated skirmish Frodo's mithril coat had repelled one orc spear (moria), and two orc arrows (moria and skirmish). Thank you Bilbo. |

No actually that wasn't a dragon. As said before it was a Fell Beast.
