Special Character Codes

Posts: 157</TD><TD></TD></TR></TABLE> Since it's been requested a couple of times of me now, thought I'd post a list of special characters. Press and hold down the ALT key while typing the four number code on your NUMPAD, then release ALT. I'm just using a standard Windows-PC English character set. Something may be different for you, HI, if you're using a different language coding or something. Try experimenting with different codes to see if you can turn anything up. Just use the same procedure: ALT + a four digit code. The first number is always 0. Good luck. <img src=ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> </p> |

I went around with ezboard tech support a few times, and they assure me that others can see it and send me messages. Posts: 162</TD><TD></TD></TR></TABLE> Re: Special character codes réd, you have clearly mastered the accent, the umlaut, and all other special pronunciation marks with your usual adroitness and aplomb. I salute you! Fëanor and Elendil, it occurred to me that if you came into the chat room via the BD site vs. using mIRC, that might be the problem. This trick might not work in the applet. The best fix in that case is to download mIRC -- it's much better than the applet anyway. Or you could check your browser settings like HI talks about above to make sure they're right (i.e., View menu > Encoding > = Western European (Windows)). I'm out of ideas after that. </p>Edited by: <A HREF=http://www.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile&u=00000005>Mister Underhill</A> at: 11/2/00 1:39:59 am |

I recommend to all scanning the back pages [archives] for an overview [ and to keep from getting your posts answered w/ groans and sighs [it happens!]] Ron , what do you think of linking some of the encyclopedia entries w/ relevant old [they could be licked?] threads ? I will post it as it's own thread if you don't see it all -although I get the feeling you are always watching over your domain! Lindil is often found on posting on the New Silmarillion Canon Forum at the Barrowdowns discussion board. 'The dwindling Men of the West would often sit up late into the night, and awaken early before dawn- exchanging lore and wisdom such as they possessed , so that they should not fall back into the mean and low estate of those , who never knew or more sadly still, had indeed rebelled against the Light.' </p>
