I'm pretty sure this hasn't been done before. . .
How about quotes in the movie that were in the book, but said by someone else or in a different situation? Example: "That's an eye-opener and no mistake." Who said this in the movie and when, and who said it in the book and when? Hope this isn't confusing.
OK, now, anyone can make a post whenever they want. [ April 18, 2002: Message edited by: Nevfeniel ]

a nice easy one: "The world has changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the Earth. I smell it in the air."

Well, I know that in the movie this quote was in the introduction. But I can't figure out where it was in the book. I'm pretty sure it was Frodo to somebody, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHO!! Arrgh!

"'Hold it up!' said Gandalf. 'And look closely.' As Frodo did so, he now saw fine lines, finer than the finest pen-strokes, running along the ring, outside and inside: lines of fire that seemed to form the letters of a flowing script. They shone piercingly bright, and yet remote, as if out of a great depth. 'I cannot read the fiery letters,' said Frodo in a quavering voice. 'No,' said Gandalf, 'but I can. The letters are Elvish, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Mordor, which I will not utter here. But this in the Common Tongue is what is said, close enough: One Ring to Bring them all and in the darkness bind them.'" |

Actually I think it is Treebeard.
I've got one: "What is the house of Eorl but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek, and their brats roll on the floor among their dogs?" Its from the book, and the page I'm on whoever is saying this is quoting someone. A) who's talking; and B) who is he/she/it quoting? |

Okay, since it's been two more days, I'm assuming everyone gives up. In the book, Legolas says,"They are coming!" in Moria when the orcs come, and Gandalf says it, also in Moria, during the movie, while reading the Book of Mazarbul.
