If Frodo did not. then how would?

How should have taken the ring to Mordor if Frodo was eventualy killed by the poison of the Morg?l Blade?

(Please don't say things like "Legolas because he rocks" cause i'm not waitong for that kind of posts)

Legolas because he rocks!!
(only kidding)

erm.. its kind of a tough one but my answer would have to be no one.
Why?
because only Frodo could do it. He was the person chosen to destroy the ring and as Galadriel said in the movie "if you do not find a way, no one will."
(sorry, i don't know many quotes from the book and mine is way too heavy to carry downstairs to my computer)
So really, if someone had tried to take the ring and destroy it, they would probably have died of gone evil in the process

My vote would be Aragorn, personally. Or maybe Samwise. Aragorn because he had the power and skills and Samwise the devotion, and the bravery for both.

I don't think that Aragorn would have taken the ring because i guess that he knew that he would finally be overcome by the ring. we all know what would have happened.
my guess is that sam would have taken the ring. as we see later on he has a strong will, and is very enduring. but then he would have to go to mordor alone, and gollum would eventually kill him.
or maybe the uruk hai would take him prisoner too and bring him to saruman. i guess there are many more possibilities

Sam might have lacked the pity that paid off for Frodo in the end. Apart from that, the special qualities needed to get the Ring to Mount Doom were obviously present in other hobbits as well.

Also, long time no see, "Sauron"999!

*gives a nasty look to Earendil evening star*

I think that Sam would not take the ring, he would be much to angry that Frodo died. In the end, Aragorn would have to get it to Rivendell. Then one of the elves there would have to take it the rest of the way. That is what I think.

It is good to see you again. You seem to have caught an appropriate member number.

To answer the question, if not Frodo, then somebody else. Simple enough, no?

I think that Boromir would have. No one else would dare to, and the hobbits would go back to the shire. Gimli and Legolas would go back to the Lonely Mountain and Mirkwood. Gandalf would not touch it and Elrond would not allow it to stay in Rivendell. Aragorn might have but he probably would think that he would do what Isildur did at Mt. Doom. Bromir would take it, and pretend like he would go to destroy it but he would eventually turn towards Gondor on the path and use it to repel the orc attacks. If he would not be destroyed by the ring, he would destroy it. It would be hard and in the end he would be exhausteded but since he is a man of Gondor he would stay true to his word and destroy the ring.

oh, if you mean who would have taken it when Frodo "dies" because of shelob, it would be sam of course. He would be the only one there to take it anyways and if he didn't, an orc or possibly gollum would find it anyways and Sauron would get it. As for Sam destroying the ring, its anyone's guess. He could get very close or not close at all.

I agree with Grounds-Keeper-Willie in saying that Boromir would take the ring. Between the two possible guys up for it (Aragorn & Boromir) only Boromir had a strong desire to posess the ring. Of course the quest would fail because Boromir would give in. As for Aragorn he was confused about the path that he wanted to take it took the events that took place during th quest for him to realize what he wanted to do. I hope this made sense

Like I said in the "what if the ringbearer died" thread, I think Sam would've taken the Ring. Gandalf, naturally, would have refused to take it. Aragorn wouldn't have taken it either, I don't think. Boromir? The Fellowship can be mistaken at times, but they're not stupid. They never would've allowed Boromir to take the Ring. If it was before the breaking of the Fellowship, then if Legolas got it Gimli would leave, and vice-versa. That leaves Merry, Pippin, and Sam. I think we can all see who the obvious choice is.

Or am I a teense biased?

The point is moot! But if your scenario had taken place, Aragorn could not have, because he knew his weakness as a man, and would have refused. Legolas might have, but I doubt it. Sam would have been my next choice, because he was a fellow hobbit. It's possible that Gimli could have taken it, because Dwarves can go for long periods of time with "heavy burdens", and the Ring is the heaviest of all! I doubt Merry or Pippin would have.

I believe only a Hobbit could have carried the ring so Sam would be a guess but if he is forced to do this due to Frodo's death then he might be to grief stricken to carry ouyt the task. it is possible that with the maturing and growth of merry and Pippin they might have been the only ones strong enough and resistant to the evil of the ring to attempt the task. At the end they bravely threw themselves into dire situations so they might attempt this together as Frodo and Sam did but alone I think anyone of them would fail.

Sam would've been devestated if Frodo had died. In fact, he was, when he thought Frodo was dead. Still, he almost went and completed the mission, before he heard the orcs. And if he'd had the Fellowship to support him, then I don't have any doubt in my mind that he would've made the next Ringbearer. Whether or not he would've accomplished the task is another question entirely, though. I'm of the opinion that Sam and Frodo as a team were the only ones who could've destroyed the Ring. (And even they wouldn't have, if Gollum hadn't been there.)
