Silmaril Lord of The Rings..a book, a movie sereies, a musical now a sitcom!

I personally love LOTR, but how far will this craz go? These are my thoughts based on rumors and plans also speculations. Darn I think I just used a split infinative. Anyways, after The trilogy of the ring is over, it is highly possible The Hobbit will be made into a movie. that would be very cool, that also means a chance for those who want to be in the movie. If The hobbit is a success, it is also possible that The Silmarillion be made into a movie, possibly a two part movie due to it size and manner. This would be on a film markers level really hard, like a field day but well worth it. I also hear a musical is in the works, a bunch of hobbits singing show tunes who can say no. My question is, how far will we go, maybe a saturday cartoon or sitcom a theme park in New Zealand.

I sure hope that it doesnt go too far. I mean i love the story but in alot of ways it has become the most beloved story of all time and it shouldnt be corrupted by having a place among the modern day trash that fills sitcoms. I would love to see a hobbit movie but if we go to far with the story in the technology arena, we will forget the magic of the books which far outweighs any movie that can be made by man.

Book, songs, movie series!! And it should have stopped there. Some people are trying to cash in on the hype created by the movie.

I agree, Ambi. Like once something is a big hit, like with Pokemon and Harry Potter, every kind of product has the characters or whatever on it. Lord of the Rings cereal... now that would be very strange.

Ambi, funny sig. I like it.

1420!

Don't forget the Trading Card Game; the video games which include FotR and TTT (I think, by the same company) and another FotR; and a Hobbit video game is already well on its way to being completed; then there's Middle-earth Online, which is (Thank God!) based purely on the books (not just LotR) and seems like it's going to be extremely accurate, especially since the people that will be playing are the ones who give input to the developers. It doesn't seem too bad, but I just hope people know when to call it quits. I don't want it to turn out like some FOX reality show...*cough* American Idol *cough*....

I love the variety of interests Lotr has sparked off, but a theme park? One step too far. What happened to as many different versions of the books that you could get? Now its trading cards and plastic figurines.
I myself am interested in collecting the books first and foremost. The figurines, stickers, and whatever are just an amusing bonus.

Actually, I quite like the idea of a LotR theme park (being rather partial to such establishments myself). OK, so JRRT would probably be rotating at 500 rpm in his grave, but then he probably is already with all the merchanding (action figures, video games etc) surrounding the films.

How about a trip on the "Fly you Fools" Rollercoaster, complete with drop down from the Bridge of Khazad-dūm, or the "Boromir's Last Journey" Log Flume?

I don't know. It sounds good the way you are putting it, saucepan man, but I don't think I would like it. I just bought LOTR Sour Gummies! And it wasn't a bit different from the usual sour gummies except that the packet had a picture of Vigo Mortessen.

Okie but what if the theme park was like one of those time period places. You know where the people had to stay in character all day, that would be pretty cool. Poor, poor Tolkien must be doing summer saults down there. I like the idea of ceral that would be funny but i am not quite sure about it. Lembas we can't forget about that, maybe some bread company will fiqure out how to make lembas and sell it. Kinda like the Berrti botts beans, whicj i believe are crazy rejected flavors that the jelly bean factory was not able to put into use until now. What would be mega scary is a cult now that would be scary.

For ages I was looking forward to LoTR films, (especially as Walt Disney said it wasn't possible). Now we've got the films, wouldn't it be excellent if there was a series of 45 min or thereabouts on each chapter of LoTR?

Oh my! The only things I'm familiar with are the books, figurines, posters, movies, bookmarks, and a few journals. I found myself complaining once at a trip to one of the local toy stores that they had more Harry Potter goodies than LOTR! Guess I'll stop now.

Cereal? That's crazy. As long as it's healthy cereal then maybe. I will admit that I bought that Sting Light up Slash Action (or whatnot) sword. I couldn't resist!

What's the musical? I love musicals, but LOTR? That's a bit much. Come to think of it though, there is a lot of singing in the book...

Saucepan Man does make the amusement park sound AWESOME! Heh heh.

If there is either a musical or a sitcom I will kill something. Namely, the person who thought of such a thing, whoever owns the network/company that made it, and whoever directed or produced it. Lord of the Rings is too awesome and wonderful to cheapen it like that. (Also I hate musicals. With a passion.) Sorry for my little anger fit, I just really want to see the dignity of these books held intact as long as possible.
