Arwen's People?
Ok. It mentions several times in LOTR that Arwen is the "Evenstar of her people." Well here's my question...Who are "her" people? And what does it mean to be the "Evenstar" of her people anyways?

Arwen's people were the Elves.
Evenstar is a fancy was of saying 'evening star.' She is called the Evenstar of her people because she will be the last great princess born to the Elves in Middle earth, the last star of her people. This is also a comparison to Luthien because Luthien (I believe) was known as the Morning Star of her people. Arwen was also similar to Luthien in that she shared a similar fate.

Welcome to the Barrow-Downs Boffer! Enjoy being dead, and post often!
Arwen was daughter of Elrond, son of Earendil... I won't go one forever after that... ^^ Anyways, Arwen was of ELven-kind, a half-elf actually, and as long as ELrond stayed on Middle-earth, then she would live the life span of an Elf. Half-elves, as Elrond and Elros were, were given the choice by the Valar on either Elven life or the Doom of Men. Arwen and Luthien both chose the Doom of Men. (Not to mention Elros.) Arwen walked in the likeness of Luthien, and was actually akin to Luthien. ^^

It was the name given to Arwen be ause she was the most beatiful Elven lady in the fading yearsz of the Elves in Middle-Earth. The Eldar would be the people, particularly those in Rivendell.

You just have to know where to find it. (Don't worry, I don't)
