When you think of hobbits at a stoplight, you've probably spiraled down the obssession tube like the rest of us. .

My, my, Frodo. I do that too if I see anything that makes me think of LOTR. Sometimes I mess up street names (on accident).
One funny thing right now for me is that at my work we have a 19th century game for kids and it's called a "bilbo catcher". So, I spend the catching catching bilbos I guess |

O, that is hilarious! LOL! Ai... My mind wanders to LOTR a lot. I'll be sitting in a movie theater, watching a boring movie that my friend or relative dragged me to, and I'll start to think of what is happening in the movie in a Middle Earth setting with the characters from the book acting it out. It's odd, but I always laugh. Even when the movie is a tear jerking drama. LOL!

Hobbits look at the piano.
Hobbit 1: Alright, we better get on with it. Hobbit 2: Come on, I stand here, and then you ever there. Ready? Now push. Hobbit 1: Push, Push! Hobbit 2: I am pushing!! Hobbit 1: Stop! Both of them step away from the piano. Hobbit 2: How far did we push it? Hobbit 1: 20 centimeters. Lets go get lunch. Hobbit 2: Thought you would never ask!

Hi everyone! I have finally resurrected from being alive (in other words, I'm back at the Downs after 3 months).
Actually...I think Hobbits would make efficient furniture movers. They'd be quite amusing to watch while they're at it. and Merl? ...how do you actually get a Hobbit attack?

About seeing things that remind you of the books and this website.....
My son has a tutor who lives on a street called "Birdwood". I was turning the corner the other day to pick him up, looked at the street sign, and that darn sign said "Birdland"....I'm sure it did! I got this image of Birdland who was just then playing a dolphin in one of our RPGs. I started to laugh and almost crashed into the street pole. Then I looked up and the sign said "Birdwood" again. I know Birdland can morph into different shapes so maybe she changed that crazy street sign too!! Don't put it beyond her. sharon, the 7th age hobbit [ June 27, 2002: Message edited by: Child of the 7th Age ]

Hey everyone! Enough teasing! I think personally, me and some of my lad friends would make great movers! (Except we would take plenty of breaks to go eat and drink! Maybe even party)<--Right about that part!

You want me to explain Hobbit attacks? Well, whenever I hear certain words (suck as took or pint, in particular), I am reminded of an instance of that word with a Hobbit. And they are always funny. I will bust out laughing for no apparent reason. One time, I was reading out loud and the sentence was like 'He took a bath', you know, took in that context, and I said Took, as in Pippin's last name. My friends haven't let me forget that one yet.
Or I will see a carrot and think of the line by Merry in the movie. It's in my sig. You know, random things that remind me of Hobbits. Usually at odd times. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Child - LOL!!!
"She's here, she's there, she's everywhere! So beware...BIRDLAND!" If you slip and say "Birdland" in front of the tutor, just tell her you were having a Charlie Parker moment. Yeah...that'll work. I had a "Hobbit Attack" today, too. My boss got promoted, and we all went to lunch together for her last day. (WAAAAH!) Everyone was raving about the great fish that this restaurant serves, and Birdie (Carol in my real life), is sitting there thinking "Fisssssh. Nice fissssssh." Luckily, I managed to control myself. |

Aldagrim Proudfoot ~ I work at a museum & on of my jobs is to dress in period clothing and play games with children. The bilbo catcher is just one of the many games, but it is my fav (for more reasons than just the name - it is quite challenging too - you have to catch a ball on a point or a flat surface... we call it "advanced cup & ball").

This was no delusion: one day last spring I saw a truck with pictures of orcs and Gandalf, and a poem: one thing to rule them all, one thing to find them, one thing to bring them all and in the shadows bind them... the truck had some would-be graduates as passengers (they have these strange habits in Finland I'm not even trying to explain) and the one thing was, as the last line revealed, knowledge. I'm telling this only to increase the Baggins density of this thread.

i've had so many lotr attacks i can't remember them all. one i remember is at school there were different tecniques for folding paper or something on the chalk board left up from some art class. one of them said "Gimping" and every time i looked at the board i was SURE it said Gimli!! another time i was writing an email to my friend about how i had memorized all sorts of useless stuff and actually wrote "I really need to get some hobbits" (instead of hobbies).

This just happened last night.
In a restaurant with a friend who reminds me very much of a Hobbit, I couldn't resist doing a Gollum impersonation. You see, I had ordered catfish, she ordered beef stew. So I went into the "Nice fissssshhhhh" routine. Within minutes, my Hobbit friend called the waitress over, complained that the stew was lousy, sent back the stew, and had them bring her out a plate of catfish instead! For some book report we(my class) had to pretend we were a character from the book we were reading. The teacher wouldn't let me bring an axe to school, so I couldn't be Gimli. So I was Pippin, my second favorite character. Well, when I went up in front of the class, I was suposed to say say what I liked doing. I replied to the interviewer "Eating! All hobbits love eating! Oh, and ale, I drink ale."(at this point my paranoid teacher got a little concerned, but said nothing) Oh I almost forgot! I smoke weed."
Well, I accidentally left out the pipe, appently my teacher thought I was talking about marajuana(spl?). She got up and screamed an "UH!". She then screamed at me to get out of the class and report to the principal. I went without argument because I knew when I explained it would make my teacher look really foolish. It was hilarious. I never got a chance to explain right away, and a note went home to my parents. My dad, having read The Hobbit, thought it hilarious and sent to school with a solemn note saying "I can't believe my child's behavior! I will flog him at once! I will flog him three times a day! I will send him to bed without dinner! I will whip him! Sincerely Yours, Concerned Father When she read the note, my teacher got all sorry and called my father saying not to flog me. It was soooooooooo funny. My dad was laughing so hard when the teacher hung up. That was the best joke we ever played. [ June 29, 2002: Message edited by: Gimli Son Of Gloin ]

There's this girl in my class who jas manners, and says please and such, by is a total jerk, a liar, a vandal, an *** , and everything. She gets really ticked off whenever someone insults her. She stole my pencil, and as usualy refused to give it back. I muttered "You have nice manners for a theif and a liar." She got so mad! She then cursed me out really, really loudly. it wouldn't be very funny except for one thing. IT WAS SILENT READING!!! Everythings all peaceful to the teacher and everyone else, and then all over a sudden "YOU &#^%%* ^&*&^ YOU YOU BIG &&^^( YOU &^^% &%^%$&&*%^$&%*&%&()*^(&*%^%(*&%%#$%#*&$^$#&^%$%^#^ &$%^#$^$*%)*(&_&*(%&^%&*%&^$%&%%&%(*&%*&%^&$^$#%^# *&$*%&^%*&$&$&^%&^$$^&(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!' It was pretty funny... I got my pencil back and the girl got suspended. [ June 29, 2002: Message edited by: Gimli Son Of Gloin ]

lol! I am always getting lotr and hobbit attacks. like yesterday a bunch of my friends and i (and lots of peeps we didnt know) had a lockin at the mall. We all stayed up all night doing crazy stuff. But at around 4 am they were getting tired so we decided to chill for a while. naturally i grabed lotr and began reading. but even before that i could think of a guote or saying from lotr to go along with everything someone said. and i kept thinking i saw words like hobbit and strider, and also ring, in the display cases. it was a crazy night...
