John Hurt Dead At 77
Though he of course had scads of other great roles, I'm partial to his reading of Aragorn in Bakshi's LOTR.
Farewell, sir.

We seem to be losing a lot of good ones lately.

A chameleon of an actor. Loved his roles in A Man For All Seasons, Midnight Express and Elephant Man.

My favorites were his roles as the Marquess of Montrose in "Rob Roy" and as Winston Smith in "1984".

Caligula & The War Doctor.
John Hurt was such a great and versatile actor! I loved his portrayal of Caligula in 'I Claudius', and as the 'War Doctor' of Dr Who. The roles already mentioned were epic as well! Rest in Peace John.

1984 and Champions are the ones I remember best. I had forgotten about the Bakshi film..

In many respects, who could blame you.

I'd watch it over the PJ films any day.

It was weird to see this John Hurt thread pop up this morning. I though he had died again.
