WB should consider making a film about Strider.
I think it could appeal to many people. Get a well know actor to portray a young Aragorn journey to become the ranger, and leader of the dunedains. Also how his friendship with Legolas and Gandalf began. Also get a role to Viggo Mortensen, as he can portray his time as king of Gondor in the fourth age. Perhaps a project like this is already in the works?

So long as Peter Jackson is not involved.

He said he's done after the Hobbit. Btw, BOFA may be the worst film in the Middle Earth movie franchise . It now holds 59% in Rotten Tomatotes. Doesn't look good at all.

Because it's unnecessary, and I don't like his handling of Tolkien's work.

AS Inziladun has said, it's very unnecessary. What even could they do? Aragorn's younger years weren't all that interesting, and after Return of the King, Middle Earth was mostly peaceful.
I suppose they could make an original story, but all the book fans would hate it, and all the moviegoers probably wouldn't understand it or like it as a movie. If they made a movie on a different character that we have lots of information about, that may end up well if nobody got carried away with things that didn't happen. Narn i Chîn Húrin would work really well as a movie, but it would have to be around 3 hours long, and good. I would not stand for another butchered story. |

I'm sure WB are considering numerous options about how they could continue to wring profit out of Professor Tolkien's work.
To be fair, we do know that Aragorn for instance rode with Thengel of Rohan and led Gondor in burning the fleets of Umbar under the guise of 'Thorongil.' Then he went on journeys in Rhûn and Harad before returning to Eriador. Given how much whole cloth they've shown themselves willing to utilise in regards to matters described solely in the Appendices for the films of The Hobbit I can see them easily turning that into a film. Isn't there some legal stipulation, however, that if something is mentioned solely in the Appendices and in materials still with the Estate, but not in the main body of The Lord of the Rings, they can't use it? I feel like I read that somewhere. Not sure what bearing it would have on this material, however. Personally of course I hope Hollywood leaves Professor Tolkien's work alone for a long, long time. Current Hollywood sensibilities at least (more of the same stuff, more money, more manipulation) are virtually a complete anathema to everything The Lord of the Rings stands for in my opinion.

Wasn't that pretty much the intention of the originally planned bridging movie which gotcditched in favour of bloating the Hobbit in two then three parts? It may be that there is the distinction Zigur suggests. Otherwise they surely would have included some senes from the tale of Aragorn and Arwen?

Yeah. Great idea. Because I can't get enough of poorly-written CGI fanfic.
