Transportation, broadly defined:
1. Fell Beast 2. Sam (Mount Doom) 3. Lorien boats 4. Dori (carried Bilbo ... dropped him, but a goblin tripped him and kicked him in the back, or something). 5. Tol Eressea 6. The Gwaihir Express! Tol Eressea is a BRILLIANT one!

It made me happy. But I still vote for Sam as the best mode of transportation!

Treebeard 8. Being dead (works for Gandalf and Luthien both!) It's now driving ME crazy not knowing who my tenth was! Gandalf was, but Elrond wasn't (or anyone at Rivendell). I feel like I had to look two up to check, which would be Gandalf and one other - not Bombadil, I knew that one. Would Shelob count? She MAY have touched it while wrapping Frodo. And if we're counting Boromir, then Celebrimbor steals it for a while in the Shadow of Mordor game. Hrm. Maybe I just miscounted, but I'm sure I had 10... hS |

People falling over, being knocked out or fainting:
1. Boromir - trips on a tree-root and falls sprawling on his face.

So long as none of them are film references, otherwise all 13 will be Frodo. Also, forgot to mention earlier but Barrels are AMAZING! Your honourable mentions are hilarious! 'The praise of the praiseworthy is above all reward.' (Adds self unofficially to swoon list, recalling Andrew Seear saying those words).

1. 'A beryl, an elf stone' - found by Strider, on a bridge, I think?
2. Elessar - the "elfstone" that gives Aragorn his name. 3. The white gem that Arwen gives to Frodo. 4. The Arkenstone. 5. The red stone in Narya. 6. Nimphelos (technically not a jewel, but a pearl the size of a dove's egg is pretty impressive). 7. The crystal in which Gimli set three strands of Galadriel's hair as a "pledge of good will between the Mountain and the Wood until the end of days. 8. The pearl mouthpieces of the pipes that the elves made for Bilbo (would they be made from whole pearls, I wonder?) 9. The "great blue stone" (sapphire?) in Vilya. 10. The Silmaril in Nauglamir 11. The emerald on the breast of Earendil (possibly the Elessar but probably not?) 12. The 'great pearl' from the Solosimpi, used by Feanor in the BoLT account of the making of the Silmarils. |

This is a bit cheeky ... but change a letter of a chapter title ... any Tolkien chapter ... to give another slant on the story.
Or more than one letter, provided it still rhymes with the original. 1. Piddles in the Dark - When you are in danger of being eaten underground but really need the toilet OR Be careful where you tread in Gollum's cave. (Hides from Urwen).

... what I really need at this point is a raised-eyebrow smiley.
